I am currently on vistaril 25 mg (night) and ambien cr - no drowsiness. I have been in alot of pain for about a week. I called my uro today and asked for Lyrica (read alot about it here) but she wants me to com in Monday. My husband has it - I am sooooo tempted. I need some pain relief. Does anyone take these combinations? HELP!:help:

Do not, I repeat do not take anything that has not been approved by your doctor.
Absolutely Not!!!! You don't take anything without talking to your Dr. first. There are just too many variables, wait until Monday.

I totally agree. Mixing medications without a doctor can be extremely dangerous.

Please hold off until you talk to your doctor! Mixing meds without some advice from the MD can be dangerous. Hold on until your office visit ,then go in with the info you have learned from here and your feelings re: adding this med to your regime.

I hate to say it but do not take his meds. I would not have said the same thing a few months ago but a friend's brother overdosed on some basic meds recently. It came back that the mix of what he took was lethal to anyone regardless of dose. If you need to you could call the doctor on call at your urologist office and get approval from them or even go to the ER or maybe an immediate care center. Sorry, I hope you feel better soon.

You have to see what your doctor says. Lyrica doesn't work overnight or even over a couple of days. See what your doctor says Monday!

I must apologize to everyone for even asking this stupid question. If anyone knew me up until about 8 mos. ago I was such a drug free person. I hate them. I have been known to have surgery (fissure, gallbladder, periodontal) and not taken pain meds. I just don't like drugs. However, I have never been in such a constant state of pain as in the last few weeks and it has taken it's toll on me. I wouldn't even have the guts to try the lyrica, but in a week moment thought about it. I actually feel a little ashamed. I spent the night on a heating pad and drank tons of water and feel some slight relief today. Hopefully my uro can see me and recommend something soo. Thanks for everyone's input.

I would ask about A tricyclic antidepressant first in small doseages it works really good for a lot of IC patients. I have never tried Lyrica but I know I can vouch for the tricyclics. I would not be able to funtion if I was not able to take them. I hate that you are going through such a rough time and you do not have o apoligize we really do understand. Sometimes the pain does get so unbearable and it makes us not think straight. You could also ask the Dr for something like Ultram for the pain. It is not a narcotic but does take the edge off the pain. I hope you have some luck with your appt, Please keep us updated..
don't feel like you have to apologize.. sometimes because of the degree of pain we are in, we don't think and sometimes get to the point we want to do anything to feel some sort of normal.. a bit of relief..
I do agree.. don't take.. lukily my fil is a pharmacist.. even when I get meds prescribed by my doctors.. and I see a few.. they all know what I am on, but to be safe I always talk to my father in law first just to double check..
hon.. I really hope you find some relief soon :grouphug:

No apology needed. That is what we are all here for, support. I think it is easy when you are hurting to consider doing almost anything to stop the pain. The good thing is you asked for opinions and people gave their honest opinions. I hope you are feeling a bit better.
just wondering if you saw your uro, and how the visit went.. did he recommend the lyrica

I take vistaril, to. I have both the 50mg and the 25mg on hand. I usually take 50mg every night, but my dr also gave me a prescription for the 25mg dose, so if I have to, I can take 75mg when I feel like I'm having a flare. It really seems to help.
