prozac

My doctor just prescribed me prozac for anxiety and pain. Has anyone ever tried this? He put me on this one becuase of my constipation problem. He said all the other ones are known to cause constipation. Thanks

well all antidepressants do the same sorta stuff.....well some hit different neurotransmittors....but still people react differently to them....
some say one works for them and some say it doesn't you know what i mean....
i take effexor and some people say its good for pain but i have added amitriptyline for the pain factor and it has helped me some but definitely helped the painkillers actually work....
My general doc says that antidepressants are all basically the same and sure they put different labels on them---like one helps one thing and the other one helps another thing but it just depends on how it works on you......
you just have to try it out.....see how it is.....as far as i know all antidepressants have constipation as a side effect......

I am on fluoxetine (generic Prozac) for depression. I don't know if it helps pain as I have been on it longer than I have had the IC. But I don't have a lot of pain with the IC, more urgency and frequency, so maybe it is helping and I don't know it. If that made sense?!?:rolleyes: The only side effect I notice is, unfortunately, a lack of sexual interest and result (if you know what I mean).:cussing:
