Cysts and Frustration

I went to "test drive" an OBGYN about 6 months ago. We discussed IC, IBS, and PFD to see how she felt about helping me through a pregnancy with these conditions. I was so excited when she was very positive. :D
I went off the pill and my husband and I have been trying for the last 6 months to get pregnant. I,unfortunately, have only had 2 periods in the last six months. :eek: As many of you can understand, when your period doesn't come.. you just get excited. I think I have bought out our local pharmacy of pregnancy tests, but to my disappointment they just kept coming back negative.

Well...I just found out Thursday that the culprit is polycystic ovarian syndrome (cysts on the ovaries). :rolleyes: I just can't believe it. I have decided that I am destined to obtain all diseases that have abbreviations/initials (okay, slight exaggeration, but geesh). Anyway..If anyone has had PCOS and can give me a mental boost for the day..I would greatly appreciate it! Has anyone been on medication, had the laperoscopy, etc..?)

I have had many laporoscopies in my time. It is a very simple procedure in which they make two very small incisions. One is right near your belly button and the other is right above your hair line. The laporoscope is a small instrument with a light at the end which helps to see around in the abdominal area. The laporoscope also has attachments that can remove cysts, scar tissue, can cauterize and can do many other amazing things.

Recovery time is about 3 days to a week. You are home the same day. My sister had an overy removed via a laporoscopy.

I myself had PCOS years and years ago, and at the time of my lap, they were able to remove alot of them. With antibiotics and medication I seemed to do just fine.

I am sending you my best, and please do not give up on motherhood. With todays medicine everything is possible...

Thank you Diane! I go in on November 1st to find out the next step. I definitely am not giving up motherhood and look forward to getting all of this out of the way so that we can start our family. Hugs.. :) Angie
