Hello ladies. It has been a year since I have been here. One whole year since my implant. It seems to have worked. My pain has decreased along with my spasms. The biggest perk- I dont go to the bathroom 30 times a day! I can actually sleep through the night- when my fibromalgia does stop me. After 20 something bladder distentions, taking every pill out there, and crazy installations- I am free! I still have ocasional pain but it is more tolerable. I am sure that I will need distintions ocasionally but it is much more manaable now. It is true that you can bump it- that hurts so bad. I have lost 3o lbs. since my surgery and you can see it more- but you get used to it. Truth is, I forget about it most of the time. My magnet are off so no alarms are set off and I have only needed one or two reprograms to get the setting correct. Overall, I would do it again. For me it has been worth it even if it stopped working now to have had an entire year off of bathroom duty. Good Luck to all of you ladies that are in the position that I was in. I am finally able to begin working for the first time in my young life.

Thanks for the update. I am glad your interstim has done so much to improve your life. I have also benefited from the interstim. I also feel very fortunate.

Good luck to you with starting your career!

I was suggested by my uro a couple times about trying the interstim for frequency. But, she always told me there was no guarantee it would help with pain.So I just deal with the frequency, because it does wax and wane a bit.Sometimes it is so bad I am up over 20 times a night, and other times I go through spurts where I am going less then 10 times a night. The worse of my frequency seems to be when I first lay down at night, before I fall asleep.I am happy to hear it does help some with pain.So glad you got some relief :)

please know that it is a rare thing to get pain relief. There are a hand full of gals that were lucky to get pain relief. As for myself, I did not. I had severe urgency pain That went from off the charts to a 4 or 5. It this is the pain we are refering to its possible to get pain relief, but not for just plain bladder pain or flair pain. Make sure you go into this knoing it will not help you with bladder pain.

One of my best friends has IC also. She has had it for many years, and got an interstim several yrs ago.She was hoping for pain relief but did not get it.Her concerns have been that several times she needed an MRI and could not get one done.I would not make a rash decision.I am just glad to hear it does help some with pain.I still have not gotten myself to the point where I would consider it,because of frequency alone.Alot of my pain is a constant spasming, and cramping. It is not just related to urinating.Although at times sometimes after I go the pain will worsen for a bit then ease up.Of course if my bladder is full it hurts very much, but I tend to have a constant pain.
