I have watched every episode this season and have to say there is some real talent there. I haven't made up my mind about the guys yet, but as for the girls my favorite is Brooke White....I love Carly Simon and she was great last week singing, "You're so Vain" while she looked as Simon! LOL

How about the Hallelujah performance last night by the guy with the dreadlocks? Made me come on youtube and find the Jeff Buckley version of it and it brings me to tears...such a nice song.

Anyway, your thoughts on this season? Which of the guys should go home?

I've been trying to watch. I often miss the very end because I have to pick my son up from basketball practice, at 9pm
Anyway, I really like the guy with the dreadlocks and the really young kid (I don't remember any of their names, yet).

I can't remember their names either....I love the real young kid...he sings like an adult who has lived a really full life...the kid is wonderful and way beyond his years with that voice! I like the guy who was a male model/stripper....have to look up his name too! LOL I haven't been touched by anyone singing a song on AI though like I was when the dreadlock kid (sorry!!) sang last night. I was reading the comments on you tube versions of this song and tons of people were brought there looking for it because of this guy singing the song last night!

I can't quit playing this song...it's about domestic violence and the bible references are meant to be ironic basically. I learned all this today...can you say I have no life? LOL

Sandy,
This is a family event night in our home..lol

My favorite boy is the 17 year old David Archuleta. He has an amazing voice to be only 17. Heres his preformance from last week. It gave me chills..
http://www.americanidol.com/videos/?vid=966&pcs=499

And Jason is the one with the dreadlocks, his voice is so pure and natural.

Now the one I like the most out of the girls is Carly Smithson and Brooke White. And Brookes performance last week was so awesome. She has Carly Simon pretty much pegged.

But all the others are really good also, I think this year has been one of the best years to have such a wide varity of great talent!

It is definitely a Tivoed show at our house! David is the young kid and his version of Imagine last week was awesome. I like him and Brook. Now for the guy from Australia, he could just stand there and I would vote for him is what my hubby says! LOL! I also like Jason. Definitely enjoyed the song last night. Yes, there is a good pool of talent this year. I think some of them definitely could have picked some better songs last night. The 80s had some good songs. I hope the ladies do well tonight! I hope Danny (purple hair) gets kicked off tomorrow. The thought of him being in the final 12 is kind of like Sanjiaia...or however you spell his name. I just can't stand him! His attitude, the way talks, etc. He is just so irritating. I was very sad to see Alexandrea get voted off last week. I know she didn't pick a good song, but she had talent.

I don't like Danny either...I can't figure him out. He seems so stuck on himself doesn't he? Like he's ALL that...well he's NOT all that. I am not voting this year, I got too angry and caught up in the whole thing the year of Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice. I stopped the ending of AI and read their disclaimer that said they go by the voting but the producers have the right to change the outcome as they see fit.

I wondered why I even bothered voting if the producers could change who got booted off and it just ticked me off....took away some of the fun of it for me. So I didn't watch last year, it just left a bad taste in my mouth. So this year I decided to watch it and just have fun, not worry about voting and just watch it and relax....if the producers decide in reality who leaves then so be it, I didn't spend my money texting on my AT&T phone! LOL

You're right about the aussie guy....he's gorgeous!

No Vicky, she is still on there. You can watch her again tonight! LOL! Another one I can't stand!!!

Sandy, are you saying you didn't like Carrie? I picked her from the beginning (auditions). I love country music and especially Martina McBride, so I followed her to the end. I had forgotten she was singing a song from the "Sound of Music" at some show before Christmas last year. I happen to find it on YouTube last night and it was sensational. She is an unbelieveable singer and just loves what she is doing right now. I watched an interview that she did on CMT and she said that she was enjoying her success right now (duh), but whenever she decided to start a family, she was going to enjoy her family for a while.

I really don't vote either, mainly because when I watch it, the voting time is over. We have too much going on in the evenings and we never watch shows when they are actually on, so we are normally watching it around 10:00 at night and fast forward through the commercials and some of the judges comments. Its amazing how fast the show goes by. I wish they had a way of voting people off instead of voting to keep them on. It would make it so much more diplomatic. My husband and son our computer geeks, so they can explain it better than I can, but there is a way. There was a show not long ago that worked that way, plus you could only vote a certain amount of times (like 3) from each phone.

I liked Bo Bice too, but he really hasn't turned out to be an entertainer. He admits that he really never wanted to be. I went to his concert in Mississippi shortly after his summer tour. It was good, but nothing to get excited about. All of them really have an opportunity to make it in some form or another. Like Kellie Pickler, Josh Gracin, Jennifer Hudson, they have the "stepping off" point. I was a huge fan on Constantine a few years back. I really hoped he would get an album going, but he went back to what he enjoyed. I read that Bo realized he wouldn't want to deal with the pressure of it all. I know some people would say it was because he didn't win. But with watching his concert and reading some of his interviews. He was happy starting a family and following his own path.

I did like Carrie, I voted for Bo, and was flipped out when Constantine got kicked off...that's really what did it for me. I just couldn't believe it wasn't rigged then and that's when I stopped it at the end of the show and read the disclaimer. I really did like Bo a lot, especially when he sang that song acupella (no idea how to spell that) that time, but I was happy for Carrie. I was keeping up with Bo, but gave up when he didn't really make anything out of his chance. I like Chris Daughtrey a lot and listen to some of Carrie's music, was really happy for Jennifer Hudson, etc. I just got so mad that year at all the crazy turns of events that I didn't watch much of it last year at all...I never meant it to sound like I wasn't happy for Carrie. I, too, had watched her from her audition and knew she was going to win and she did deserve it.

BTW, What happened to last year's winner? That guy? Can't even remember his name now?! He must not be doing much because I don't ever hear him on the radio.

Jordin Sparks (She was 17) won last year. She sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in January. Her album will be coming out soon. She took her time picking her songs since she said she is so young, that she didn't want to sing about things that she really hasn't experienced yet. Look her up on YouTube. She was a great winner too. She probably won't enjoy her true success for a few years yet. She is about to go on tour with Alicia Keys, which I just googled to find out. That is a BIG deal!

I saw Chris Daughtrey on Beale Street last year. He was so good. He is friends with one of the DJs on the radio down here, so he is always coming on and singing.

I flipped out about Constantine as well. That is why I am for the voting off type system. I think everyone thought he was going to do fine, so they voted for other people to keep them on. That is the problem with their current system.

Let's just hope sweet pants and skunk hair will be gone by tomorrow!

I love watching AI. I liked the guy (don't remember their names) that sang last night and did Lionel Richie's song "Hello". I loved the way the song was arranged. I can't firgure out which one of the girls I like best. There are some really good ones.

Yes I saw her sing on the Super Bowel Jordin- Very nice job. I think her Dad is a professional NFL football player as well. Vicky

We are watching, as well. I am with all of you who can't stand "sweet pants". He thinks he is so hot. Well, he's not. He is just disgusting. Way too young to be acting like a sex symbol. Hubby is not sure if he is a he. I can't stand the way Paula foams over him.

And speaking of Paula...What was up with her last night? She was down right silly and way off tack. Oh and Simon and that Bullwinkle impersonation. :lmao: I am really tired of Randy and his "dawg" and calling girls "dude". I know he is in the record business but doesn't he know the difference between dudes and chicks?

I hope the rocker skunk hair chick is voted off, soon. The only time I like her is when she is talking.

I am crazy about Brooke. She is terrific. The Aussie guy is worth looking at...very closely. *wink* The "kid" guy is fantastic. I think his name is Michael? I refer to him as "the kid".

AI is so much fun. It's really the only time Hubby "dishes". :lmao:

American Idol is my all time favorite show! I thought Chickezie did a great job Tuesday night. Simon did not agree. I think David is great and I do not like Danny. I am so anxious for tonight to see who gets voted off. I am also crazy about Brooke. I think this is one of the best seasons and they are mostly all so good! I think Luke needs to go, I have not liked anything he has sang this season yet. Great thread Sandy. :)

Yeah!! The whiner boy is gone! LOL....I thought that those who went home truly deserved it this time....this time they got it right. Danny was so shocked it was him, like he was invincible or something. BLAH! Good riddance. Can't wait til next week!

I was pleased with the final 12, with the exception of skunk hair. The rest are all talented and definitely have a future. Michael Johns is the "Aussie". It's fun having Tevo. I pause it so many times when he is singing just to get a good look at him! LOL!. Hubby is about to ban me from the remote if I don't stop watching him over and over. He could just get up there and sing the ABCs and I would be perfectly content.

I actually squealed when "sweet pants" was kicked off. Misty was in the room. She is becoming an AI lover as well. When I squealed, she started her "squealing" type howl/bark. It was so funny! I was so glad he was the last one, especially with that look he gave when he was sitting on the couch right before commercial. I kept rewinding it and just commenting on how he thought he was going to be sitting in that stooll...they were leaving the best for last was what I am sure was going through his mind. He was way "TMTH" LOL!

I too love Brooke. I was such Pat Benatar fan when I was a teenager and knew all of her songs, especially "Love is a Battlefield". I thought it was so fantastic the way she made it so different. David is such an artist too. It's going to be hard to pick a favorite. If Christy goes the country route, which I loved what she did to the Journey song, she will do well. I always want a country singer in the mix.

Can't wait until next Tuesday! E

I broke out with applause when Danny's name was announced. The look on his face was priceless. I was concerned that he would get through. I will not miss him. Simon looked so pleased especially after Danny mocked him with that Bullwinkle wave he did. Brooke's rendition of Love is a Battlefield was great. I was concerned when she started singing it knowing how powerful Pat Benatar sang it originally. I thought she was brilliant. It kinda reminded me of Chris Daugherty and his take on I Walk the Line. So different and so good.

I totally agree Sharon, I thought Brooke was GREAT. I have liked her from her very first audition. I was also so glad to see Danny go. I wished I could of got up and jumped up and down. :biglaugh:

I never watched it in prior seasons, but this year my little sister and my daughter double-teamed me and sort of made me start... it's more fun than I thought it would be. I guess everyone likes Brooke, huh? I think she's fabulous. I could live without Biker Nurse Chick.

You know, I think being on the show would be great fun (obviously I'm much too old though!), but I was the lead singer in a band for about 3 or 4 years after college, and it's an exhausting lifestyle. And then if you make it (not something we ever had to worry about, LOL), it's 1,000 times harder. I just sometimes wonder if these kids know what they're getting into. But then I just sit back and enjoy. :)

For the girls I LOVE Carly. For the boys, I love the really young guy.
