A few weeks ago, I mentioned to one of my drivers that I was disappointed that the local weather spotter class was on a night that I have to work a 12 hour shift. He said that I should come take it with him and his fire department. So, I took a vacation day and went. Well, hes a guy and Im a gal and work with truck drivers. He has been getting razzed all week about this. They kept saying we were going on a hot date.:loco:
Well, it did turn hot. While we were just finishing up class, his departments pagers went off. The class was at a little town a few miles from their fire house. So I got to ride in an ambulance going full speed with lights and sirens back to the house. It was cool! What an adrinaline rush! There was a chimney fire. No one was hurt and they put the fire out quickly. I stayed at the fire house with one of the wives during the call. It was fun.
Im going to contact our local ESDA tomorrow and see how I can become a member so that I can help out when the weather gets bad. Im home and awake during the day when most people are at work. I think it could be fun! Ive always been kind of a weather geek anyways.
