View Full Version : For some reason I tolerate Aloe Vera Gel better in drinkable form

After my DX I started taking Aloe Vera Gel or Aloe vera juice in the drinkable form. The taste isn't that bad, and I never noticed a direct flare from it, and my stomach and my IBS seemed better from it. However, I figured that because it does have citric acid in it, I should switch to pills. I got some natural store brand Aloe Vera Gel caps, because they are more inexpensive than the Desert Harvest.

I took it for 3 days and had the one of the worst IBS attacks I've had in months. All of it, bloating, cramping, leakage. I have no idea why my body loves it in juice and edible gel and not in pills. I think the juice and pills were the same brand (Solaray). Guess its back to juice. I'll just make sure to take Prelief with it.

Anyone know why this may have happened?

I drink a a little less than a cup of the gel or juice a day. I took 2-3 of the pills the days I took them and not all at once. Maybe its just too strong for me in that form.

It might be the gel caps themselves that are causing this.

Hmm... I know some people on the boards have had gastrointestinal issues due to gel gaps in general. That's why many ICers here open up their Elmiron capsules and mix the powder in with some water.

I would have to go with SharonA and suggest that the gel capsules might be the culprit.

Except that I take a ton of other sups in gel caps and they don't give me problems.

My only concern in this is I am toying with the idea with trying the Desert Harvest but thats a lot of money to waste if I react the same way.

Despite what the representative on the phone said to me (only people that are allergic would have problems), I had no luck whatsoever and wasted my money. I couldn't take them.
