View Full Version : Worse after instills

Has anyone felt worse after the instills? The last few times I have done one with the heparin and marcaine, I feel worse. Is there a chance that they are making things worse?

There was one time when I was having some intense pain that it helped, but the last few times they haven't helped at all. Any ideas why?:confused:

Well anything can bother the bladder....each person is different and if your body chooses that med isn't for you than your bladder can react to it even if there isn't a normal reason for it.

Most commonly problems from rescue instillations aren't from the drugs but the catheter or a PFD reaction afterwards.
I had to take a break from doing rescue's for a while because my PFD was worse than IC and I would get tense sometimes.
Since you say it has helped once I would lean in the direction of PFD. I know many not just myself have had PFD began flares after rescue instillations and that by working that out were able to do the instillations again.

When I started instills a few years back the 1st couple seemed to make me worse and I thought maybe I was not going to continue. I got words of advice from this board and did continue with the instills. After a few more I was realizing I loved my instill days. I would get all that cool liquid in the bladder and it would really cool things down. I don't know how many you have had but I would give it a little time.

Thank you for your input. I have been wondering if PFD may also be a problem for me, it is something I will discuss with the Dr in March.

I also wonder if it is the difference in drug. At the Dr they use marcaine. My pharmacy was out of that so they substituted with sensorcaine. The ones at home are the ones that made me feel worse. I have since gotten the marcaine again and tried this morning with that since I was having problems this morning. They make for a long day at work sitting at a desk. So I will see how I feel. It already seems to be a bit better.
