I am with a new guy (of 3 months). This is the first guy that I have been close to since getting diagnosed with IC and VVS. All we have to do is have one great kiss and I can FEEL it in my bladder. What IS that???!!!
Luckily it only lasts for a few hours, but sheesh...it's so annoying. I'm close to my man and I feel like I have to pee every second =p
Please tell me I am not alone here! :loco:
Haha....thanks =)

Understood. This happens to me as well. I think it's a nerve deal with our brains and pelvic areas. I wish Doctors knew more about this and knew how to fix it.

I can also relate and wish a Dr could give me a medical reason why this happens. But as of now a Dr cannot even tell you how you get IC and what causes it. SO....
This is just my thought, on what we are feeling. Is that it is all nerve related. And when you become aroused you do start and intense blood flow causing things to swell down there. And this in turn presses up against the nerves that are already sensative from us havining IC So this makes them all flared up causing a chain reaction. Now this is JUST MY thought though..

It all starts in your head as they say.

I think Leelee is on to something here. Along with nerve, it can also be muscle related. We tend to begin to tense up in the pelvic region while being stimulated. We also begin to flex our leg and pelvic muscles.

I have a post on here that says, "Just thinking about having sex makes my bladder hurt"...trust me, you are not the oddball here.

Sandy, That is SO true. For some reason I can think about sex and as Sharon said I tense up from PFD and then I have pain..LOL
It's all just a vicious cycle...:headbang:

Thanks ladies! Makes me feel less nuts when I'm not the only one! LOL :bonk:
As for being in my head...not possible in this case. I am basicly symptom free because of my meds (except when I am super stressed or having PMS). Having symptoms is the last thing on my mind when I am making out with my boyfriend! :lmao:
But then again, I guess it is different for everyone.

Although what Sandy said makes perfect sense....turned on is hormones and is a change that doesn't have to mean your tense about it for it to effect the muscles. Regardless I hope you have been checked for endometriosis because that was one of the symptoms I have delt with from endo....and with so many IC patients having both and the overlapping symptoms and the fact that any new symptom should be brought to the doctor even when it could be from a already diagnosed condition I want to make sure that you consider that.
Regardless I know well the hormone flux can effect IC! :grouphug: hormones effect Ph as well as muscles and other things so when it comes to trying to avoid the symptoms it is a tuffy! Hope you can find a way that works and enjoy your time with "new guy" :)

hmm...endometriosis? You had symptoms of bladder issues when you got turned on and it was your endo? Hmmm. I've never been checked for that. I am 28 and my mom recently had something done along that route, but she is in her 50's.
The thing is...even before I had IC or VVS, I always had that "I have to pee feeling" after I was turned on. I can remember it from my teen years ;) It's just now that I can attribute it to my IC and know that not everyone in the world has it too.

I just know that every since I was Dx with IC I have had this feeling to some extent. I never had it before IC and I also have Endo. I was Dx with endo when I was 16. So in my case it is not the Endo making me have this feeling. I will say that my meds have helped out alot with this feeling..

It's not that its all in your head, it's that when you think about sex you start a string of reactions in your body much like Katrina said...it's a release of hormones, contractions of muscles in your pelvic area, etc. I would NEVER say anything was all in your head because I heard that too many times in my life and was totally insulted. I just meant that it starts off the process which can lead to pain. Sorry if you took that wrong....I literally meant it when I said that when I think about sex I start to hurt because I guess I get 'turned on' myself to a certain extent, and then all those physical reactions start, some of them we are unaware of, and the pain starts. It really all does start with the mind, in this case anyway, but it's definitely a pain, a real pain!

This happens to me sometimes too but it isn't in my bladder, it is in my pelvic floor muscles. And the REALLY crappy thing is that sometimes it happens the worst when I have an orgasm! That might be TMI(too much information)LOL! but it is true and it really scared me for awhile. I had to speak to the doctor about it and she said that it can happen from all the stimulation to the pelvic floor muscles!
Of course the actual act of sex can hurt an IC bladder but there are lots of tips on this site about how to make it less painful. Jen's tips on sex is a great thread, if you haven't already read it.

I have another theory and I hope that I do not say anything to offend, but here goes. I think arousal causes us to produce more urine. You never want to start a lengthy sexual encounter with a full bladder, but it doesn't hurt for it to be somewhat full towards the end. I have found that some of the best orgasms were followed by a very large void. I think that the female body has a natural tendency towards this so we can flush ourselves afterward to prevent infections. I just think that the instant you have that thought in your mind and the hormones flood your system and you start producing urine it is either the hormones or simply the urine that hurts. Could be too much too fast in the production department. These are just my thoughts on the issue. I would love to hear other's thoughts along those lines. Oh, and a simple yes I do have this problem as well. More so lately than in the past, but allergy season is different for me every year:confused:
