I have seen this report on our local news. Ewww!!! Convinces me to wash the glasses before using them. Better yet...maybe it's not such a bad idea that the "cheaper" motels have...plastic covered plastic cups...or bring your own.

That is disgusting. I never drink out of those glasses. I always take my own plastic cups, plates, and utensils. I also take Lysol and Anti-bacterial cleaner and spray down everything. I never sit on the toilets and I wear flip-flops in the shower. It is a shame that we can't trust the hotels to clean the rooms like they need to be. :tsk:

That is just sick. Makes you want to think twice about ever using anything out in public places, I mean you would be suprised what they do even in restaurants.

Many hotels pay the cleaning crews by the number of rooms they clean, not the amount of time they work (and the pay is terrible no matter how you calculate it). Of course they're going to take shortcuts! I used to travel for my work and it never occurred to me that this sort of thing goes on. Now I'd make sure to take alcohol wipes and swab everything, even the phone and the TV remote.

When I was looking around on you tube yesterday I found all sorts of things on dirty hotel rooms! It just wigged me out to think of the things I might have slept on, drank from, etc. I remember an episode of Dirty Jobs where Mike Rowe went into his hotel room and took the bedspread off the bed, tossed the dirty remote on the other bed along with the spread and talked about how gross these things are. I saw several videos that said take a mini black light with you and shut the lights off and run it over your blanket and sheets to see if there are any leftover body fluids on the bed. You'd be shocked to see how dirty the supposedly clean sheets were! Just GROSS! I truly hope those maids got fired on the video, they certainly don't deserve their jobs after the horrid things they did!
