Flare from vaginal exam or biopsy?

I had a vaginal exam Monday....I have a reoccurring rash/fissures with white blotches in the perineum region and the dr wanted to see if my cervix looked inflamed and to get a sample to look at under the microscope (easy answer - vaginal infection). Of course....no infection. I get this rash thing for a couple of days each week.....since this past August (2 months after my IC symptoms got worse). Anyways, she also took a biopsy from the perineum region (OUCH!!). :cussing: Now my bladder pain is crazy. Not sure if this additional pain is caused by the vaginal exam, the shot of lidocaine injected in the perineum, or the stress of the biopsy.

Does anyone else go into a flare after a vaginal exam? Or do you think it may be from the stress of the pain from the biopsy? I went back on the strict IC diet and have been drinking tons of spring water, but this flare seems to be getting worse, not better. Sigh........

I do. Just about every time I have a pap smear I flare. It seems like with all that you've got going on down there it would be crazy if you DIDN'T flare. I'm so sorry...you sound absolutely miserable...and now you've got the flare on top of it. If it continues I'd have a sample taken at the doc's office to make sure you don't have a bladder infection as well. I sure hope you feel better soon.
