Has anyone had any withdrawls from cymbalta? I went from 60 mg down to 30 mg every other day for about a week and then have not taken any since friday. It has been horrible. I have been dizzy, eletric shocks, all kinds of crap. I can't walk too much, so driving is out. I have gone online and read about the hellish withrawls, but I wish someone would have told me this before I started the med. Please advise, if you are thinking about taking this med. It did help with IC pain & fibro, but the detox is like your body has lost control. Does anyone know how long this will last. I never had a drug do this, but from what I have read it is common. I quit Lexpro with no problems..:toilet:

Yes, I did have some withdraws. And have heard others have had problems. Please talk to your Dr about this..

I have already spoke with the doctor about this, and it seems to be very normal. My question was how long did it take anyone else for it to get out of there system???

I had problems for about 2 weeks when I stopped the Cymbalta. It was terrible and I'm glad it didn't last any longer then that. Good Luck

Pam, Thanks so much for the reply.. Today has been better then yesterday..:woohoo:I can walk without holding on to the walls. It's funny, I have been a member of this sight for over a year. Granted I read more then give advise, because I want to learn. The one time I could use a little advise, I watch my post be read without a response or reply.. wow. Thanks again Pam. Hopefully my withdrawls will not last two weeks...:hi:

Nina,
You are very welcome. I didn't know going off Cymbalta would be like that and I should have went off slowly. I'll know now about any other medications I take. I also read the posts more then I write. It's hard to do when I'm at work all day and I'm too tired in the evenings to do much.
Hope you're feeling better.

Pam,
Things are getting better. I went to work yesterday & today, but came home early. I still have problems concentrating on my work. I have been tons of water hoping that it will get out of system faster. At night my bladder wants to flare, I guess that is just part of it. I am still on topamax during the day and zanaflex at night. The last two nights, I have been waking up every hour. I took a anbiem cr at 9:00 last night and had to take another one at 3:00am. I still was up at 6:45 for work. The funny thing is I never had to take a whole anbiem before this. I would just take a half to help me sleep and that would make me sleep for more than eight hours. I guess as they say" This too shall pass"! I know how you feel, after I get home from work, get dinner ready for my boys and do the normal everyday things I am too tired for anything else. I truly appreciate your reply. Friday I see I uro..Fun...

Thanks again
Nina

I've never taken Cymbalta but I did go through wicked withdrawls from Paxil!!! OMG I swear I thought I was dying. The key to it is just going VERY slowly, which I guess in your case is not going to help you much. I'm just hoping it will help someone else who is trying to come off of it. Any meds like that need to be tapered very slowly to ease the withdrawl. Way back when I took the paxil I had no idea it would do that to me and I quit cold turkey. BIG mistake. I hope you feel better soon!!! BTW, I'm curious, why did you decide to stop taking it? I've actually been thinking of taking it because of all the fibro pain I have and need something to help give me some energy. I am not really depressed but I have my moments and cymbalta seemed like it would kill 2 birds with one stone.

Thanks, Sandy

Hi Sandy,

I do feel a little better. Thanks. My 16 year old son & I just got back from the movie Juno. I figured it would help to laugh some. Great movie. The cymbalta helped with the fibro pain, but I was tired all the time. I never had bad depression, but I can say I did get down the last year dealing with the fibro & IC. I gained ten pounds over the last six months even though I had no appetite and not eating much. I also got short tempered and frustrated easy. I had seen some post on here and read some reports about how addreall in low doses has helped with IC. I had also read were it had helped with fibro pain and people cut down on meds. I went to my uro with this, we both read over some pro & cons and we decided to try it, but you can't take cymbalta with it. I was ready to get off it anyway so I cut down my dose about two weeks ago. She did want me to go every other day and slowly taper off, and I started that but forgot to take it the next day. By the third day, I thought it's already been two days just don't take it.
By the third, fourth, I was soo sick I did not want to ever touch the drug again!! My doctor advised to go back on it and try to taper off slowy again, but I glad I did not. Six days off and there is light at the end of the tunnel.:bow:If you never had withdrawls from anything, it's scary how a drug can have so much control over your body..

I'm glad your feeling better. I too would like to start cymbalta. I am suffering from depression, have no energy and Fibro,as well as Ic, and chronic fatigue, and heard it is great for all. What exactly is the med you were talking about, addrell? I'd like to hear more about it.

Thanks and again, I'm glad you are feeling better.:smile tee

Cymbalta makes me tired; it does not increase energy for me. But I agree that when I ran out for a few days, it was not a pleasant experience.

Discontinuation symptoms can occur with all the SSRI antidepressants. Some seem to cause it more than others, but can happen with all of em. Best to talk with your doc about how to taper off of them.

Maryla,

Thanks I am feeling almost 80% better.. At work this morning and I did finally sleep better last night. I only woke up about three times last night.. The bladder feels raw and yucky but I will take over the withdrawals. I am going to have my weekly rescue instill Friday, so hopefully the bladder will not get worse until then. I have lortab for time when my bladder is terrible, but I am trying not to take anything right now. Cymbalta works great for a lot of people. Some people hate it. I guess trying to find the right mix for ourselves is a journey. I read about the addrel on the site. If you did a search and put adderal it will come up. I also googled adderal & fibro and found interesting articles. My uro is great and she is always looking into new studies. I would be her first IC patient on it. When I am ready we are going to try it for a month. I can keep you updated..
