Has anyone taken Prelief without food? Can it reduce symptoms of urinary frequency by itself?

Prelief only works when taken with food, because what it does is takes the acid out of food, like spaghetti or something like that. On it's own, it won't make a bit of difference. Good luck!

To Jess214 and newshound:

There is a mounting body of evidence that Prelief is doing a good deal more than just taking the acid out of food.

Objective observations by a major university urologist in 2003, using urinary markers, appear to be demonstrating reduced urinary bladder cellular distress regardless of whether Prelief is taken with or without food. No specific claims are made by AkPharma on this at this point but a double blind clinical to determine if these observations will be confirmed, is underway. The above information is presently being presented to urologists and other medical professionals on an early, tentative information basis.

We now recommend taking at least 2 Prelief tablets three times a day with or without meals, although best with meals; also 2 tablets at bedtime if desired. We hear from many IC patients who take Prelief successfully without food and/or at bedtime.

Therefore, the short answer is: Prelief's benefits may well go beyond simple acid reduction, which will be the subject of an early study.

Wow Betty, this could be great news if the study bears out that result. I know I do benefit when I use Prelief with foods that I know will bother me. Please keep us updated.

I read a post a couple of months ago on prelief and it did indicate that it can help even without food. I believe this to be the case with me. I feel like it can at times take me out of a flare, but I know we are all different!

I take it without food...especially if there is big breaks between meals because stomach acid is my biggest enemy...so yes it can help without food.
