Hi everyone, my pain is off the charts. I don't know if it is because I did not get my last Lupron shot, and the hormones are coming back, my lower back and pelvic pain is so bad I feel like I am going to vomit. Could be the stress to from my dad. I tried even an ultracet thats not a narcotic and it made me so sick. I can't take anything for pain without getting so sick, and that makes me feel worse. All I have that I did not try yet is the tylenol 3, thats tylenol with codeine and I am scared to even attempt that. I have tried dilaudid, vicodin, ultracet. Years ago I took percocet once and I vomited for 2 days. I have the phenergan to take if the tylenol with codeine makes me sick but I have a test tonight and I can't be sleepy. The last time I took a dilaudid, my head started to pound and I was so nauseous for 2 days! I only took one 2mg. I don't know what is with me and pain pills, I just have no tolerance at all and it stinks because I have to suffer through the pain. I see my IC doc Monday, they said there are other things I can try, its just going to be trial and error for a while until I find one I can tolerate, but what stinks is sometimes I can tolerate them for a few days and then they start to make me sick. My GYN doing my hysto said she will keep my pain well controlled and also give me anti nausea meds and thats fine for after surgery because hopefully it will make me sleep but for now I just have the heating pad cause I can't tolerate anything. It is so frustrating. The ultracet didn't make me sick before, I took it a few times, but it made me so sick this last time I took it. Maybe I need to be on something for my stomach, since its so weak. Ok I am going to lay down now. Thanks for listening. :)

Lisa
I am so sorry you are in so much pain. I hope you can find something that helps at least a little. Could you call your doctor to see what he/she says? I do know when I did the Lupron my pain was unbearable. After I stopped the shots it took quite some time for that pain to settle down.
I hope your day gets better!

Hey Lisa, I am so sorry to hear you are having a rotten day! What about taking a nice relaxing hot bath to try to ease the tension that the pain can bring along with? Maybe that might help?? It's so hard to anything when you are hurting, ugh, I know for me my concentration on anything goes out the window....

Sending you hugs and lots of "feel better" thoughts!!!!!!

Lisa, I am very sorry you are in such horrible pain.

You have been under alot of stress lately. I know you are a very strong woman but sometimes our bodies just give out on us. And it sounds like yours is doing this to you now. Maybe you cannot see this, but from your post about your puppy being sick, your upcoming surgery (hysto) and So worried about your Dad. Who would'nt be under a significant amount of stress. You are only human hun..I wish I could do something to help you ease your pain.

I can only suggest trying to relax and talk to your Dr. It might be time you get on something to get you through all this. But this is just a suggestion. Like I said before it truly helped me when I got on Cymbalta for awhile. It got me through a very rough period in my life. ((((hugs))) to you Girl.. If you need to talk I am always here for you!!!

With all the stress in your life right now I would be totally amazed if you didn't flare. Maybe your doctor could give you a low dose relaxant to help you though the next weeks.

I wish I could help.

Warm hugs,
Donna

Lisa,
I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. I'm right there with you girl, we always seem to be in synch with all this crap! Here you are writing to me about how you're worried and I don't deserve to be in pain and you're in horrible pain yourself. Maybe try the tylenol w/ codeine after your test and take some of the phenagren with it so hopefully it won't make you sick. I hope by the time that you're reading this that you're feeling better. :grouphug:

Lisa, I'm also so sorry you're suffering and in this horrible pain right now. I was talking to Prelief Betty this week and she told me that she talks to hundreds of IC patients. She said that after all her conversations, she's convinced that stress is the number one cause of pain! We know that stress is a big part of it, and you have been under so much!! Hang in there, it will get better!

Thanks Donna, now my vv is really acting up, I am so uncomfortable, it hurts to sit, it started last night and I was really uncomforable at dinner. It burns when I urinate. I feel so irritated, this hasn't acted up for quite some time now. But it sure is now. I was wondering on your post saying maybe a low dose relaxant would help me. I will for sure ask my doc, do you mean like xanax? I know they use them for relaxants also, thats what my IC doc said, he gave me klonopin and said that would help as a relaxant, but it knocked me out for 13 hours straight. I took it once. My doc just called, he has samples of cymbalta, he wants me to start on 30 mg, and then if I tolerate it ok, he will increase it. He said its best to start me with samples so I can see if I can tolerate it. I said yeah I hear it can upset the stomach, he said yes it can but that usually goes away. Ok I was just wondering what you meant by a relaxant? My gyn said my estrogen is now starting to come back, the lupron of course lowered it, but since I did not have my last shot because I am having the hysto, she said as my estrogen comes back, it could be adding to my misery. Even though the Lupron made me SO sick with headaches and nausea, my lower back pain with the last shot felt so much better the whole month. That was the outcome they wanted, they said if the Lupron helped my pain, then that meant my hormones were playing a big role in aggravating my IC and that I needed a hysto, I noticed after the 2nd shot, my pain was better, but I was miserable from the side effects of the shot and I would of never got another one. It was helping me in one way and making me miserable in another way. But I finally got my appetite back! So thats good, that shot made me totally loose my appetite.

Lisa,
I'm so sorry that you're having so many problems. You can't win for trying sometimes. You stop taking the Lupron because of the horrible side effects but then the hormones start to return to normal and you have a ton of pain. That really sucks. I think Dr. E gave you the lidocaine ointment for your VV too didn't he? I use it during the day now too if my VV is really acting up. I just use a little bit but it does help and then I use it again right before bed. Just a thought that might help a little.
I'm so happy you're going to be getting your surgery soon and won't have to go through with this hormone crap anymore. I know that you will feel so much better afterwards.
I asked Dr. E why the Lupron was making your bladder feeling better and not mine and he said he didn't have any idea. He said he def thinks that the hormones are playing a huge role in my endo and my IC and he thinks that the hysto will help me some. He said it will at least take that hormone component out of the equation and then we can go from there.
I wish there was more I could do to help you and wish we lived closer. I know you're going through so much right now, no wonder your in pain. Stress is such a big trigger. You know where to find me and give me a call whenever you want. :grouphug:

Thanks everyone. I just talked to my IC docs nurse. She also said with the hormone returning since I did not get the lupron, that could be adding to my pain as well as my stress causing it. Thats the same thing my GYN said, so she said I will probably get alot of relief from the hysto in the long run. She wants me to write down all the pain meds that made me sick so far and when I go Monday, they can decide what they want to put me on from there. I told her that I sometimes could take the dilaudid and I did ok and sometimes it made me really sick and I think I may need to be on something strong for my stomach like protonix or something. For some reason I sometimes have that really weak stomach. So she said I can also discuss that with him Monday and that may be something that could help me. I did have a really bad ulcer years ago but I always had a weak stomach with meds all my life. So I am going to write it all out and hopefully Monday he can help me figure it out so I have a game plan for after surgery cause she said they really want to work with the gyn doing my surgery as far as managing my pain after since I have so many problems with pain meds. So thats looking more positive for me. :)

I'm sure the stress of your father being sick isn't helping anything. I remember when Tom had his surgeries, this past summer and the summer before I was constantly in agony. It's all the worry/stress that your body is going through that aggravates the pain. When I'd come home from the hospital I would take a long, hot bath and soak while reading my book and kind of lose myself in the book for a while. Maybe you can try that, too?

Oh Lisa, I just read this post! I'm so sorry you were in such pain yesterday on top of everything else going on!! I also didn't know you were so sensitive with medication-I am too!! It certainly adds a new level of anxiety and fear to having surgery if you know you're going to get sick and you know the pain meds won't work. If you find any good tips please share with me ok?

I hope you find the right game plan that works for you and I sure hope you're feeling better!! :bunny:
