Hi,
I have been going for instills for the last 9 weeks at my dr.s office. I have 3 more weeks and then Im done. Do people generally just have one round? I guess I am confused because it seems like a lot of ppl do instills daily at home...are you doing the home instills because one round didnt work?
I havent seen any benefit from the instills except for the last 2 as they took the steroid out of it...had a lot of burning beforehand....actually felt worse. I guess I feel a little lost. The dr says we will just moniter me on the pills Im taking, but I feel scared as the instills havent gotten rid of my symptoms or pain....
Thanks

Instills vary so much per person and per dr. I know that some do the instills at home and just do them when they are flaring to try to help lessen the flare and calm down their symptoms.

In my case my dr told me to do instills at least twice a week until further notice because my bladder is so irritated and inflammed. If I am having a really bad week and having a lot of pain then I might do one more that week.

I know for me that I am going to ask to always have a supply of the instills meds on hand so even if I do start to get better I will have them there for when I have a flare. For me I haven't seen any long term benefits from the instills yet which I have been doing very several months. It is very soothing and cooling when I first instill the meds and when I'm flaring badly that's enough to make me happy that I get some relief even if it is brief.

I would def talk to your dr about your concerns and see what his nomal protocol is and what he feels will work best for you.

Instills are not the cure all for everyone. For the most part it seems that steriods do cause discomfort for most although I have never had steroids. I am not sure how your MD feels about instills but my MD suggested home instills before anything else.

My symptoms were relieved almost immediately with the first instill. I live 90 miles from his office so he suggested home instills. I had to do daily instills for several months but now I do instills on the average of 2 a week and sometimes less than that. I have seasonal allergies and during those seasons I need daily instills.

I have been having the instill done once a week for 8 years. Did try doing it myself at home once a day and then every other day but that seemed to make it worse. Plus when my Uro does it I don't seem to have the extra amount of pain when I do it. Kind of hard to reach down there laying down.
