I really didn't know where to put this and so here it is. My BF is going to a Chiropractor for his back. I have been going to his appt. with him and tonight we are going to a spinal care class they put on.

We don't have insurance so we can only afford for one of us to go right now and he is in far worse shape than I am.

I do have low back pain sometimes and the lifting and things I do with my job of helping with carpet installation as well as other flooring, I am sure at times I could use a little tweak.

Here are my questions, have any of you went for this type of care before with your IC?

Did it bother your IC?

Did it improve your IC?

I guess some of my concern comes from the fact that he told the Dr. he was having some loose stools, he did some adjusting and now it is taken care of. He almost got constipated. He told the Dr. that and he told him that with the adjustment he just did that would correct that and it did.

My BF also told him that it cause a little hesitancy with his bladder and now I think with the last adjustment that got better also.

If I decide down the road to try this I want to make sure that it won't cause my IC any trouble. I am doing good right now and I will put up with a little back pain rather than make my IC worse.

I didn't know whether there was a connection with the nerves down there along the spine that could affect the bladder. I am assuming yes and this is where those who try the Stim get some of their relief.

I could just use an education about this if any of you have any input. Thanks!

I have been going to Chiropractors off and on for years due to a neck injury I had many years ago. I also have some sciatic problems that flare occasionally. I have never had any problems associated with IC from the adjustments. I make sure they know not to push too hard on my back around where the bladder is in front. That way, my bladder area is not shoved into the table.

I don't have any personal experience, but I've heard and read that acupuncture is very helpful for IC. Also, a friend of mine (with IC) just started going. Now, that might be if the needles are placed in the right areas to target the bladder nerves, but I don't see how it could hurt IC. If it's not targeting the bladder, it seems it wouldn't affect it at all??

I appreciate the input, thanks. On Monday night we went to one of his spinal care classes. I learned a lot from this and just how important it is to have your spine in correct alignment.

This young Dr; early thirties, appears to know what he is doing. He doesn't just "adjust" to make you feel good. He wants to pinpoint the problems, try to correct it and then keep you in good alignment.

I also wanted to add if anyone wants to PM me, I can send you a link to his website that can tell you some of the conditions this type of care can help. This side of medicine has really evolved from my impression of what chiropractic care used to be by some of the older ones still in practice.
