Hi. I have been reading responses and comments on the IC forum for a couple of weeks. I just got diagnosed a couple of weeks ago and I am so scared, lost, confused, mad. . . Are my symptoms like other peoples? Feel your bladder with every step and every move I make. I teach kindergarten and have been pretty healthy for as sick as my kids are this time of year. Then work up one morning feeling a little pressure in bladder. Just happen to have a annual obgyn appointment that day, so I told them I thought I was getting a UTI. They said the test showed neg., he referred me to a urologist. Went to him and he had me try Levequil. Felt better for a few days, then stopped, felt horrible. He then scheduled a cyto and next thing I know he's telling me I have this IC. I have so many questions, and am so worried. Can't eat, cry all the time, can hardly continue my job. Can anyone tell me that it does get better? I am taking Elmerion, hydro.., amitrip, and started DSMO instills. No better yet! I worry when I read how many people didn't get any help on the Elmerion. Please tell it will for me. Does anyone still believe that this is caused by a unknown bacteria? Or a mycoplasma or enterococcus? Could it be a Clamydia? Does anyone go to that Dr. Troth in N.Y. who thinks this? What can I do to get better---please. I'm about ready to lose it all. I'v been on pretty much a alkaline diet, but it doesn't seem to make a difference in my symptoms. I do not have allergies or up to now anything else wrong, major anyway. I just want to get better. I don't want to feel my bladder anymore! Thanks for listening, Brenda

Just because nothing's worked so far doesn't mean nothing will ever work. Some things take a while to work. Therapies that don't work now will sometimes work at a later time. Trial and error are necessary. Prelief helps a lot of people...so do supplements like Desert Harvest Aloe Vera, CystoProtek etc. Plus there are a lot of other approaches available.
IC is a b*tch to deal with but patience & persistence prevail.
We know how you feel. We sympathize. We will commiserate & advise.
Just remember: Perspective is essential. Just because you feel rotten now doesn't mean you will ALWAYS feel rotten.

Sorry you are feeling so scared. Things will get better for you, but it may take a little time.
Along with what you are doing already, go and read as much of this information on this site as you can. You will be armed with a lot of things you can use to work out a plan of action for yourself. This will help you feel better.
Would you mind telling me how old you are?
Hope this is helpful to you.:)

:welcome: to the IC Network. I'm very glad you found us.
I know it's no fun to be told you have IC, but I'd like to reassure you that most of us do find effective treatments and feel good the majority of the time.
Have you started an IC diet yet? If not, I suggest you begin that today. You'll find the link to diet information at the top of this page.
Warm hugs,
Donna

Brenda...(((Hugs)))
It is very normal to have the feelings that you are having right now. We all have felt this way or maybe still are. It can get better and you can find the right meds/treatments that will help you feel better.
Please take Donna's advice about starting the IC Diet. For many of us, it is our first line of defense with our symptoms. Also, give the meds/treatments time to work. They can take time to become fully effective.
There is help and there is hope... :)
