I take hydroxyzine which is an antihastimine. It has been working pretty well but leaves you groggy. I tried Ambien CR once and couldn't get out of bed the next day.

I take all of my meds at night together and several of them can make me drowsy. The pain meds, the hydroxyzine and the neurontin are the three that make me the most sleepy. My pain problem lately is not going to sleep but staying asleep. I find that I wake up to go pee and am up for sometimes two hours. I never had this problem before but I'm currently doing Lupron injections for endo and I think that may be the cause. I might actually have to ask for a sleeping pill which I have never done before. I hope you find something that works for you.

I have tried Lunesta. It didn't help me sleep. I still had to get up because of the pain and frequency.

My doctor changed me from Rozerem to Temaszapam last month. I have stopped Amitriptyline since I just need a break from it for a while and he thought I should try another sleep med too. I couldn't remember taking it until I saw the generic name Restoril and I remembered it well! I took it for 2 1/2 weeks and had very vivid upsetting dreams, plus I was up and down all night with either urg (which hasn't been a problem. I called my doctor and he put me back on Rezorem. I have been down the road with sleep meds for years. Lunesta didn't help me either. It made me feel like things were crawling on me. So far, Rezorem, has been the best bet for me, plus I don't have problems if I skip it sometimes, plus I am never groggy the next day.

Do you ladies know if Ambien and Lunesta are the same drug, diffrent name? Temazepam makes me wired more alert. I took it Saturday and cleaned my whole kitchen and the fridge out as well. I still was not able to get any sleep. My sister in law suggested that I see a pystrist cuz he can give me the right meds? cant my regular dr give me the same things? HELP. Thanks

No, they are not the same. I did better on regular Ambien, than the CR version, but we are all different. The CR version, caused me to sleep walk and do other things. I didn't sleep well with Lunesta either, I felt as if I had things crawling on me and I clawing my skin at night.
My uro/gyno has prescribed all of my sleep meds and he has been very helpful going through the list of sleep meds for years. I have also had my regular doctor prescribe them one time when I first started taking them.

Thanks for your quick response. I am going to make a app.to go back and see what else I can take. I am kind of scared cuz I feel like i have ran out of meds. I was thinking of taking a ambien cr and half of a regular one. I dont know anymore.
Not drug-related, but my ipod is a lifesaver when it comes to sleep. If I absolutely cannont sleep, which is usually due to pain, Vicodin makes me very sleepy and relaxes my muscles. Good luck.

Ruth I take vicoprofen ( which is a cousin to vicodin, vicodin has tyneol instead of ibuprofen) and yesterday for the first time I took ambien. But I did take the vicoprofen about 3 to 4 hours before bed and then take the ambien soon as I go to bed. I did ok with it so far. I did noticed I felt alittle nausea in the car. Maybe asking your doctor about it maybe you can try it. I know every body is different especially on medicine, so I hope if you try it will work for you. Right now it is a trial and error for me.

your regular md is going to give ambien, lunesta, rozerem- hypnotics
A pscy md can give you meds for sleep that help you sleep but are not like ambien, lunesta or rozerem. I can only take ambien 12.5mg cr now my insurance wont' pay for it. Regular ambien I takek one and awake hours later and can't go back to sleep. Ambien CR was not a safe drug for me as I lived alone at the time and did some weird things like others on ambien. I did not thank god drive while taking ambien. I would get out of bed and do things after I had taken it and not remember doing those things. I ordered more stuff on line ane ebay. UPS was constantly at my door and I would not remember ordering the items until I got them and opened the package. WOw,]
Very common for people taking ambien read the info . Those taking ambien an buying things on line and not remembering. VIcky

I started with regular ambient then what happens is you start waking up and can't get back to sleep a pain md told me that. SO I switched to ambien 12.5mg CR not problems with the controlled release I could get up pee and go back to sleep. Now our new insurance won't cover ambien cr and as of June this year they will only dispense 10 sleeping pills upon MD getting it approved for 30 days only. Lunesta did absolutely nothing for me I was awake all night.
Yes I believe that a pscy MD can give you pills to help you sleep that don't have some of the side effects as the sleeping pills do.

Yes I would take ambien 12.5gm cr and two regular strenght vicodin. I would rather see you do that then take ambien cr and cut another ambien in half. Never cut the ambien cr in half............... not recommended and not safe. You could end up getting whole dose released at once instead of controlled release. VIcky

sleep is a huge issue for me too. I've tried lunesta, ambian, and other meds make me fall asleep, but the urgency to pee always wakes me up and after I pee, I can't fall back asleep for several hours. It's frustrating !!

Everyone is very different. I love Lunesta. I tried ambien because the Lunesta side effect I was getting was a metalic taste in my mouth. Well, the ambien made me feel like I was doing crack or acid. I went back to the Lunesta and got eventually the metalic taste went away. I also take welbutin, valium, and hydroxzine pm.
I wish I could get off all the meds but I suffer from insomnia. My IC doctor wanted me off the welbutin but my MD said to stay on it because the chronic pain will soon start to depress me. I think she has a point.
Hope everyone starts feeling better soon.

This is only 3 days since I took Ambien. One thing I noticed is taking my pain medicine closer to the time of Ambien I will sleep better, 4 to 5 hours apart between the medicine is not to good for me. I just thought this might help someone. I am learning as I go each day with taking Ambien. My doctor said it was ok to take this medicine like this for me. So if you do try it
please check with your doctor that knows about your health conditions.
Sending hugs, Trish :hi:
