Starting Lyrica and I'm really concerned about weight gain. Has anyone else experienced weight gain? I am trying to lose weight...is it still possible to work on that? Is it the cravings and eating more that make you gain or the drug itself? He has me on 50 mg/2x day for now. What are others experiences with this drug?

They gave me lyrica to try for my bladder. I have been on it three weeks and it does not seen to help my bladder. It has been wonderful for my fibro pain. I haven't gained any weight. In fact it seems to give me a little more energy.

I have been taking it since 9/2007 I have gained 20 pounds, but I rather have the 20 pounds than live with the Fibro pain I was living with. Good Luck

Lyrica has been a lifesaver for me especially for my fibromylagia and seems to help with some of my IC symptoms too.

I started 7 months ago on 50 mgs 3 times a day with no weight gain.

I upped my dose 3 weeks ago to 75 mgs 3 x a day because the fibro pain is worse. I have gained 7 lbs SO FAR. It is because I am eating more pure and simple. I think it's all in my mind-what I choose to eat and how much. I have to stay away from sugar, but I do indulge in red licorice sticks-just not very many. If I eat well that day (salads, veges, baked chicken or fish), I lose a pound or two overnight. If I eat junk like I did last night (pizza) I gain a pound and a half!

You have to fight the cravings, don't eat late at night, stay away from sugar and try to find a way to exercise. Yeah right! It is very hard to find exercise that does not make the Fibro and IC pain worse. Even walking throws me into severe fibro pain. I WILL find a way to make this work, however, because I refuse to give up my Lyrica and I hope you find your way too. You can I think if you really try and be conscious about your choices.

barbclay, I have noticed that too, the last couple of days, sometimes I am exhausted, other times I go like Jake.. lol scary huh?
I did some research to find out if Lyrcia caused charily horses, I had one so bad I tried to get out of bed and fell out, scared my hubby tho. These started when a couple weeks into it. I did not find that proof of the lyrica causing them

I took it for a few weeks. I too got sick on it, so I didn't eat much, but it affected my memory, and made me extremely nervous and agitated. Plus didn't help with my bladder, so I stopped taking it. I know other people (even a man) that is so thankful for it. He has fibro and said that before Lyrica, he could hardly get out of bed in the mornings.

It's so frustrating trying to find meds that work continuously and to deal with the side effects.
