I just recently started taking elmiron 3x's a day. Well today is my third day. I have had nausea but that doesn't really shock me much because that usually happens. But what is worrying me is that my bladder feels worse. It is hurting like really bad, I feel tingly and itchy all over, plus I have hives. I also feel like i'm having hot flashes. Is this normal? I feel really funny...I'm hoping this goes away. Has anyone else experienced this?:help:

I stopped taking Elmiron several months ago so I don't really remember the possible side effects. When I went to Elmiron's website it did say that rashes is a possible side effect. If you are worried that you're having an allergic reaction to it then I would stop taking it and call your dr's office in the morning to see what they have to say about it. I hope you start feeling better soon. :grouphug:

Give your pharmacist a ring. S/he will be able to answer your questions more accurately that your Dr.
Barring any other medical issues you might have that would advise against, taking a dose of Benadryl should help with the hives.

Feel better soon!

so today, I called my pharmacist and he told me that if I didnt have trouble breathing or anything to keep taking the elmiron, but to call my dr about it to see if a rash is acceptable..HUH itching it not acceptable in my book grrr.....well my dr's arent in the office...so i took matters into my own hands... I skipped my morning dose of elmiron...but decided to try my afternoon dose, but did something different. I took it out of the capsule and put it into some water and drank it down really fast...I didn't have the itching...and it still makes my bladder feel kinda fiery? but we'll see if it happens after having more in my system...im hoping it was just the capsule causing problems...anyways...i'll keep ya updated.

IMO it sounds like an allergic reaction. I understand where your pharmacist is coming from, but there shouldn't be any harm in stopping it until you consult your doctor, and if it IS an allergy, your symptoms CAN progress.

Best of luck, I hope he gives you an answer!
