I have been having problems with this and now i can't really eat...
I am going to get checked out for gastroparesis but what i am really wondering about is safe things to drink and such....
My bladder hates almost all fruits and such :tsk::toilet:
I looked up some sites and this lady was saying she was doing great on juices but i can't have that because of IC and the acid reflux.....:tsk::tsk:
So i am sorta at a loss...:bonk:
I do have chocolate boost...i always have to take stuff to hopefully stop a flare...but boost is the only thing that i know of to help me...
I am just all confused....:rant::bonk:
Just wondering if someone could shed some light on this for me...
thank you for reading...
take great care all of you
hugs and better body days....

I have motility problems as well and have been trying to get my gastro to call in Reglan for me. He was worried about the side effects, so instead I am living on Compazine and THAT has more side effects than all my meds put together!!! I had a vomiting spell yesterday that came out of the blue, like most of them do. I have trouble eating and finding foods that will not make me nauseated and I have to watch my bladder as well. I've been drinking a lot of Crystal light lately trying to watch my carbs from juices and such and so far so good. I purposefully didn't look at the ingredients because I don't want to know. I can drink it with no reflux or bladder issues and it fills me up. I can eat pears and apples fruit wise. Also, I LOVE avocados. Don't know if you are able to eat these but I find them a nice treat in the afternoon.
I live on cereals, skim milk, turkey lunch meat, and have to be very careful which spices I cook with for dinner. Check out the diet thread. There is a GREAT thread by traceann somewhere on here that can give you a great boost on getting your IC diet in order to where you don't have to starve and feel so deprived. I'd suggest pm'ing her to ask her if she can send you a copy of that great diet post she wrote.
I know what it's like to live with stomach problems. I've been doing it for years, and lately they have been much worse than my IC!
I'm sorry you're going through this. Do you take any medications for this problem?

I have taken some meds for it....i have tried domperidone twice and the last time i took it(a couple weeks ago) it gave me an acid reflux attack that lasted almost 24 hours....even after taking my nexium..... so thats a :tsk: for me...
I have had acid reflux for 9 years now :bonk:
and all my 'tricks' have lost their effectiveness---digestive enzymes and ginger pills and all of that....
they used to be my rescue miracle things...
I really just can't handle anything other than club soda, boost(chocolate), cocacola, rice milk....
The benefits of club soda outweigh the risks.....since the shweppes one is just carbonation and sodium bicarbonate...find it helps with IC when i have a new unopened one....i am an abnormal one thats for sure....regular water causes reflux real bad....
cocacola helps me keep sorta awake and it doesn't taste bad comin up....i have to make sure i drink club soda in between to hopefully not cause a flare but i do take my lil rescue pills for flare ups just in case
And because of food sensitivities and how my stomach and bladder is....i can hardly eat anything or do anything it seems anymore....:bonk:
I dunno just confused and i feel kinda overwhelmed right now....
trying to figure things out.....:loco:
thank you for responding and if anyone has suggestions i would really really appreciate it...
take great care
hugs n better body days

I have motility issues too. I agree with Sandy's list of foods although everyone reacts differently so it will really be trial and error. Honestly I had the hardest time trying to find things that were okay for my acid, motility and the IC. I am on Elmiron now and can eat pretty much anything in moderation and my bladder is okay but I still have to watch what what goes in the tummy. I have the most problems with chicken, beef and raw fruits and veggies. I also have to watch the fat content and not go overboard because the tummy takes longer to digest fat as well. I eat a lot of canned pears, lunchmeats, eggs, bread, english muffins, fish, Ensure, milk, and light ice cream. I can tolerate butter leaf salad fairly well and most cooked veggies in small amounts. Have you ever taken a prescription med for the acid? A PPI (proton pump inhibitor drug) would probably help you a lot. I find both ginger and digestive enzymes make me 1000 times worse. If your stomach is over-producing acid then it seems it has plenty of enzyme to break up your food.

I have been taking a PPI for 9 years now.... and now they don't help me well they help with my acid issues but not the pain and refluxing food....:bonk:
The digestive enzymes and ginger were good to me and now they are not...
I can't eat a lot of things...thats just one of those weird things...eggs i haven't been able to eat for years--they just stay in my tummy for a week and i just burp em up all week----really gross
same with bananas--haven't had those for a long time....just stay in my tummy for a week...
can't have a lot of spices just never been able to digest them---runs in the family....
can't have milk----i cheat every so often but can't have it a lot since i was 12--diagnosed with lactose intolerances....
i can only handle a bit of berry type fruits sometimes and can only eat spinach. potatoes, broccoli(not too much), sometimes carrots.....those are the only veggies i can have since all my sensitivities...
i can only have a wee bit of breads
and really can only handle chicken(i used to love lamb and even when i couldn't eat things i could eat lamb but now i just cannot eat it because i can't eat something that cute.....)
so yeah the list of stuff i can eat can be listed in one sentence and it keeps getting smaller and smaller it seems....
just frustrated and stuff today....you know how sometimes things just get to you.....:bonk: well thats today for me
but thank you for lending your eyes for those few minutes
i appreciate it all
take great care
hugs n better body days

I also have some problems with the acid reflux. I love water, but I usually drink really cold ice water. My Dr. said to drink just tap water and not when it is ice cold, Let it set on the counter a little bit and then it don't seem to agitate:tsk::tsk: my acid reflux as much.
take care and hope you all find something to help.

Gone through the ringer with motility and have the same type of food sensitives. Now Foods Maganesium Oxide taken with meals was the only thing that got things going.
It's not easy but you're probably going to have to find about a half dozen foods-that you may or may not like-that cover what you need nutrionally without burning you while you get better-hopefully they'll be alkalizing too.

Its not only about the acid reflux that irritates my stomach, i have a whole whack of intolerances too...
right now i can only digest anything with chocolate in it, frosted flakes and coca cola and also soda water....
right now that is my diet since either things burn or i burp them up or i just throw up in my mouth since apparently i don't have a gag reflex....
its quite frustrating but i think i may have a stomach bug(i get those ALL the time which makes things lively every so often..:loco:)
but thank you for helpin out though...
i hope all are doing well....
take it easy and take care :pray:
