Ugh! I'm about half way through my second month of Lupron injections and tonight the hot flashes are horrible. I'm in a tank top with my bedroom window open and it's only 39 degrees out and I'm still sweating! This is crazy! The worse part is that my pain is so bad I'm having back spasms so I have my heating pad on my back which I know isn't helping the hot flash but otherwise I'll be doubled over in pain crying. I can't wait until I'm done with these stupid injections. Of course my next one is on Valentine's day, what a way to feel romantic huh? lol :loco:

I so understand yr hot flashes all too well. I received those injection a few yrs agofor 6 months. I finally had to have a hysterectomy and went straight to menopause. My Dr said I was estrogen enimic and averaged 2 severe hot flashes every hour. I sleep with a fan on my body everynight. Living in Florida doesnt help, LOL. I now use a climara estrogen patch and even though they are frowned upon I dont know what I would do without it. I no longer have any hot flashes really and for the time being will keep wearing that wonderful patch. I dont know what was worse, the "hot" part or the auro that would flush my upper body with immediate nauseau. No Fun, nope no fun at all, hang in there dear.

Christine
I was wondering if your doctor that gives you the Lupron gives you and add back therapy. I know that is what I asked for when I took the Lupron but it by no means took away the hot flashes completely but it did help get through it.
Just a thought!

Haha :biglaugh: Sharon, that is not the kind of hot mamma I want to be.

Zippy: Yes, I am on the add back therapy. That was one of the worst hot flashes I have gotten since I started the Lupron. I know it would be worse if I wasn't on it.

It cracks me up though because I go to bed so hot I can't stand it and wake up so cold I feel like I'm frozen to the bone. It makes it kinda hard to put on appropriate clothes to wear to bed, lol

Hi Christine
I am glad the doctor gave you something for the hot flashes. We had to change my med a couple times and increase the doses a bit but finally found something to help a little. I hope the hot flashes get better for you.
Take care

Christine, I did not get the hot flashes yet. What I did get was the night sweats. I would go to bed and then all of a sudden feel so hot, but it wasn't to bad and I am not taking any add back therapy. I hope that my hysto doesn't cause them. Do you get them during the day to? Hope you feel better. I feel :loco: on the lupron, between the nausea and loss of appetite and the headaches that finally went away. I have to admit, my bladder feels a little better though, but that could be the meds.

Oh, that just sucks. I'm 41 and getting them just from Mother Nature. Some of these nights it's only gone down into the 40's, and I've put the window air conditioner on in the room! Needless to say, Jack took refuge in the spare room, poor guy.

Wear layers to sleep, and before you go to bed, put changes of clothes right near your bed, so if you sweat through you don't have to go bumbling around in the middle of the night looking for another t-shirt. Pillowcases, too, if you tend to sweat into them. I have to put out, like, 4 dry shirts. Some nights I go through all of them, and some nights, none at all. Keeping a damp washcloth in a bowl of ice cubes is good too; most people feel the worst heat in their faces. Of course you can use the washcloth anywhere. A big bowl of ice cubes is usually still cold water in the morning.

Or if you're awake enough, consider taking a cool shower. This works great to cool you down, and it's also good for another reason: It gets the sweat off you. The dried sweat on your body is what gives you the chills later.

I'm not on any hormone therapy, apparently I'm just having an early pre-menopause. But my doctor assures me that this can go on for years, and early pre-menopause does not necessarily indicate early menopause. :cussing:

I hope your body adjusts and the hot flashes stop soon. Meanwhile, good luck coping with them. In my experience, the *really* bad ones don't come all that often, anyway.

Hang in there!

I had some hot flashes before starting the Lupron, I remember being at work and they would come on and I would feel hot and nauseous, and then it would pass. I had them for 2 weeks and I think my cryoablation had something to do with it cause it was after that but then they went away.

Thanks for the suggestions. I get them during the day and at night. The night sweats do suck! I don't get them bad enough where I have to change my clothes, I usually just wake up with my hair being damp and my neck and stuff. It is not fun, I will say that much. I don't get them every day. I talked to the Lupron nurse and she said the side effects lessen as the month goes on. I find that interesting since I seem to be having more hot flashes this week than I have in awhile. I also had some horrible nausea earlier which I haven't had in awhile. God only knows, the Lupron does strange things to your body.

Christine, my hot flashes started last night, I spoke to soon. I was watching movie and they kept starting and I am always cold, but not last night, I had to wake my sweatshirt jacket off and I could feel the heat, they would come and go and it was a very uncomfortable feeling. They lasted for hours to! Just when I would think I was ok, one would start again. Hope your feeling better. :)

Isn't that always the way it is Lisa. As soon as you say you're not having a proablem it tends to bite you in the butt and start up. I hope you don't have anymore. Did Sandy ever call you back about not getting anymore Lupron injections? They should understand considering how severe your other side effects are. If you did another injection you might actually disappear from losing more weight!

Hi Christine, it always works that way, lol, I was saying how I didn't have any and bam! lol I was playing phone tag with Sandy. She left me a message today also, I thought I should call her after my appointment so I will have a better idea of whats going on. I will keep you posted to. :)
