Ok so it was actually a hemorrhage. It scared the poop out of my 8 yr old. We live in a very high altitude (Utah, greatest snow on earth). I have had surgery on my right sinus 10 yrs ago but it has always been a problem for me. Always getting infections overnight that I wake up and my eye is swollen shut. Well the last couple of days I have noticed that dry feeling in my nose. Tonight I went downstairs to put some wash in and the blood just started flowing out of my nose.By the time I got up the stairs and into the bathroom I had blood soaked thru my entire sweatshirt (my fav own of course). I sat on the toilet and grabbed a towel and screamed for my husband or daughter. My daughter came in and freaked out. she called my husband and he came right home from down the street. By now I had soaked thru the towel. I think we finally got it stopped, I've got a bad headache but I'm going to be okay.
What a night.

What an experience. I suggest you see your doctor and discuss this to see what may have caused so much loss of blood. I hope you are feeling better.

I have been having nosebleeds the last few weeks too. That's one thing I am going to ask my doctor about. My MIL used to get them, but she had high blood pressure. I know my blood pressure isn't high at all. I was sitting at work the other day, and mine just started pouring. It also did it again while I was sleeping and I woke up with blood on my pillow. Scared my husband to death. My mom (she is a retired RN) thinks that maybe it's because my sinuses are too dry. I am not having any problems with congestion or anything unusual.
Please let us know what you find out.

My husband used to get terrible nose bleeds. He finally went to the DR though nothing was found to be causing them. They finally stopped on their own. And like the other poster, he would get them while sleeping as well.
Hope you start feeling better soon!
