Hydro vs oral Elmiron

Hi all,
I was dx'd in 2005 after a hydro and was put on Elmiron but I quit taking it because of the hair loss. Now 2 and almost a half years later i had to have a sudden gall bladder surgery and now my pain is a constant simmer down there. Im thinking of either going back on elmiron or just having another hydrodistention. My dr is really nice but calling in for refills on anything from my elavil or vistril to my 5mg lortab pills is like being questioned by the CIA. you'd think the nurse suspected me as a terrorist. anyway vent there ,.... I'd welcome any thoughts on this as my appt is on the 18 and I want to be armed with more knowledge.

If I were you, I would prolly start taking the Elmiron again. Just to see if it helps and if not then try another hydro...but again im not a doctor...so i can't be certain that will help. I personally had a bad experience with my 1st hydro and will never have one again... I am glad my doctors don't hoard the pain pills from patients...thats so horrible. I would look into getting a new doctor as well. Good luck and get to feeling better soon.:angel:

If the hydro gave you two years, you might talk with your doctor about another. It's a real puzzle knowing what to do sometimes. I just hope you find something to help you feel better soon.
