Yes my pulse is always high and my bp is always normal. Today it was 119. It has been as high as 169 before, I think that was because of the Elavil. I have heard that pain can cause it to be high but if you are worried about it you could ask for a referral to see a cardiologist. There are a lot of girls here that have Taychardia that might have some advice for you.

If you've been taking elavil, that could very easily be the cause.

That was one of my main problems but I also have high blood pressure and take toprol 50mgs and my pulse came right down. I was soo glad I went to a cardiologist for mine because he was more comforting to me and he would be the only one to check, he did not let the nurse check. I was always terrified to get it checked and would work myself up but now I just take a deep breath and the med works really well for me. Just relax and see what they do for you. Good luck!!

If you're that concerned call 911 and get a ride to the ER. It's not something you want to mess around with! Please find a way to get there. The paramedics can always make it through the snow and it's better to be safe than sorry! Please let us know how you're doing.

What going on? Are you having bladder pain or are you worried about your pulse rate?

worried about my pulse rate but had a big fight with my bf this morning and started a really bad flare my uros nurse told me to call my np and have her call me in a couple pain meds cuz my uro was in sugery all day, and my np waited from 9:30am and never called me so at 4pm i called and she said she cant cuz shes not treating me for the IC and she doesnt know what medsim on which is BS cuz i told her a week ago when i saw her for the migraines what i was on but said she didnt want me to have a stroke so i get to deal with all this pain until it goes away so all i can do is sit here and cry i am snowed in so i cant go to the ER. im to the point of giving up i cant take this anymore.......

I agree with Sandy, you need to have this checked out! I had this happen to me about a year and a half ago and I went right to the ER. I would not wait because an increased heart rate could be a number of things. Please keep us posted on what you decide to do, if you went to the ER they could help determine what it is and also give you something to slow it down and that will make you feel better. I hope you feel better soon.

Ok now you have nurse number three on these posts telling you to go have your heart rate checked at the hospital. Some people have a fast rate everyday like lets say 103 or 105. But, if your heart rate is way up there your or an MD need to figure out why it is high. Do you take elavil? I think I saw someone refer to that. Many girls, sorry ladies have taken elavil and get increased heart rate like Donna said.

For me my bp was borderline and went I got started on elavil I had to start bp meds. Oh no say my famiy MD. the pharmacist elavil is not causing her high bp. I have anxiety which can also cause a fast heart rates.
Sounds like you had some emotional stress with your boyfriend.

Go and get it check out or all you are going to do is worry and make your heart rate go up more from worrying.

Vicky

Keeps us posted is right.

Honestly I think you are taking a very big chance by waiting. If it were me or any of my family members I would get them to the ER if I had to walk them there. PLEASE do not sit on this, no matter what! I hear what you're saying that you have an appt on TUESDAY but that is DAYS away. You NEED to be seen. This is dangerous and nothing to play with. I don't want to be blunt but you could be putting your life in danger by not having it checked. Wouldn't you feel better if you went to the ER and had a doctor look at you and go home with a positive outcome rather than wait til Tuesday for an answer? PLEASE get yourself there ASAP. Your headache worries me too.

Take this from my experience and the other RN's on here, GET CHECKED ASAP! You just never know what this is. It COULD be the Elavil, but stress should not raise it that high, and truth be told the Elavil rarely raises it that high.

Take an ambulance, do it, for you and your family. I'm sure they need you around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Snowed in is not an excuse not to go to the hospital. Paramedics can get you there...I am not trying to be pushy, but you could very well be in danger. PLEASE CALL 911!!

Hey windchaser, I understand everybodys concern but my doctor was not that worried about my pulse rate, it has never been less than 110 at all my of my doctor visits and she knows this. She said that my heart is working hard because I am very anemic and was told to take my iron to get that under control and at my last appointment she checked my iron and I havent heard back yet. Everybody is, of course, different, and just because that is MY experience with my Taychardia so far, doesnt mean that it is okay for you. I have been having mine for a long time and I am not on anything for it. Sometimes I think that I should be but my doctor is not worried that much. Could you be anemic and how much Elavil do you take? The Elavil ABSOLUTELY raised my pulse to a HIGH pulse rate, 166, and as soon as it was out of my system a week later I was back down to 118 yesterday. Everybody is different but I am under the impression that its not a big deal and that is coming from many doctors. Freaking out certantly can raise it so maybe if you tried to lay down and rest you could get it down but if it doesnt get any better than you very much should get to the ER. You have to take care of yourself, dont let it get out of hand, I bet if youwent to the ER you could get some piece of mind knowing whether or not it is life threatening. Good luck and please take care of yourself girl! Let us know what happens!:flower: Missy

Hi, I have to agree with Sandy again. I would not wait until Tuesday. And really before they do a anything, they need to find out why your heart rate is so high. There are alot of meds to lower your heart rate. But you have to have it checked so they can get you on the right one. If you went to the ER they can do tests right there and also prescribe something based on what they find. It can be dangerous. Your heart rate can fluctuate also, like you said now its 107, well even so, it can go up and down and when its goes up that high, your heart is overworking itself. Please keep us posted what you decide. I would call the NP back, talk to someone on call if your not willing to go to the ER. They also may be able to give you something for the pain at the ER.

i had to take my sister in law to the ER this morning for problems with her laproscopy she had on thursday and i had the nurse check my pulse and told her what was going on and she checked it and it was 116 and she said to go home and relax and i would be fine. So i dont know my hospital isn't very helpful so i dont know what to do... i guess i need to wait til tuesday.

If you are really not feeling good you need to go to the ER. I can see that you have spent alot of time on this message board. I see that as a call for help. Go to the ER and get help or see what is needed. Thats what they are there for is to help otheres. If they don't find anything significant they will let you know and you can wait for Tues. but why not be safe. Take care of yourself and let us know how things went.

I hope you are feeling better. Headaches personally for me before I was put on bp meds meant that my pressure was really high. I woke up one morning and had a bad headache and blurred right eye and went right into ER and it was my bp very high! Please let us know if your ok.
