Does anyone else have lower back pain after being diagnosed with IC? Mine did not start right at first but maybe 3 months afterwards. Its a constant pain really low kind of down around my tail bone. Is there anything I can do for this or does it go away. As for my IC it has gotten much better especially since I started taking MSM Glucosamine. I still have trouble with foods and I am still scared to try new things because I don't want to mess anything up because I have been having such a better time with it.

I have lower back pain alot. I don't think mine is as low as yours though. I get mine in the area directly behind my pelvis. I always said that when I had a bad flare it felt like I was going to break in half because it hurt from my pelvis straight through to my back in the same area. Some of it might be referred pain which means the pain is coming from one area but you feel it somewhere else. In my case some of mine is also from PFD which you might want to read up about on the site if you have not been diagnoised with. I think I read somewhere that most people who have IC also have PFD. I hope you start to feel better soon. A heating pad can be your best friend when your pelvis or back is hurting. I don't know what I would do without mine.

The back pain might be from IC, but could also have other causes. If you haven't already seen your doctor about it, I suggest you do.

Hi, I suffer with low back pain but I see a doctor and every now and then they do more xrays or cat scans to make sure everything is ok, they say its my PFD. I would definitely see a doctor for that. Good luck and I hope you feel better. :)

I think these gals covered the basics with you. I agree about seeing a Dr to rule out anything. But I have the same problem and was told it was PFD related..

Of course, you should see a doctor to look into the causes. For relief, your doctor might be able to prescribe you lidocaine transdermal patches. They're like a miracle for me.

I have seen great success with the lidocaine patches. I never used them myself though. They never offered them to me and I just didn't ask. They would probably help me.

I have fibromyalgia, so part of my back pain is from that. I also get unexplained pain in my hips and the area behind my pubic bone. I had to laugh about the comment regarding the dog and the heat pack. My microwave heat pack is my best friend; however, since I like them so hot, I was burning through too many. I solved my problem by buying bags of white tube socks. I fill them with rice and tie them at the top. They work great and cost next to nothing. When one wears out, I simply make another.

I have back pain in the sacral area sometimes, where I think you are describing. I like "sandwiching" heating pads, one in the front and one on the sacral area. I get heating pads that go off automatically after 2 hours. Then, I feel free to go to sleep and not worry about getting burned, etc. from the heating pad.
