My Ladies club often have lunch at a new Mexican food resturant in Town. I use to eat Mexican food often but have not dared touched it since I found out I have IC. There must be something I could eat there. Could anyone who is familiar with Mexican food suggest what I might eat? I really miss enjoying the company of my friends but I sure do not want to make a fuss about where they pick out to eat. Besides, I'm mad at my IC and I don't want it controlling every portion of my life. I would not touch a tomato but I like cheese and it likes me. Hugs, Ziggy

Many of the Mexican restaurants are serving hamburgers these days; that would be a good choice for you --- I always ask for the toppings on a separate dish so I can add the things I can have. Nachos might be okay, but I suggest asking for the topping cheese in a side dish.

What about grilled chicken fajitas with no onions or peppers? You can add cheese on the side. I think some IC'ers can even eat refried beans (not spicey tho) and some avocado. Truthfully I haven't tried it but...I did eat some grilled chicken soft tacos and just added cheese. It also depends on the marinade they use on the chicken. It didn't seem to bother me at all.

If the restaurant serves flan for dessert, that might be okay. Horchata (cinnamon rice milk drink) is okay for me also. I go to the Mexican bakery once in a while for pan dulce (pastries) - the cuernitos (horn shaped) & plain conchas (shell shaped) are fine for me if they're not colored, just plain.

Honestly, I've not found anything at a Mexican restaurant I can eat except for those things. Depends on how sensitive to diet you are....

I hope you find something good!

I can have a Taco Salad without the Taco Sauce. I do well with the rice and refried beans. I eat the chips without the Sauce. I always ask for no onion, but that doesn't always happen. So I spend some time pulling the onion out and dragging it to the side of my plate. Ahhhhh Flan...One of my all time favorite deserts. Yummm!!!! Bring me two, please. :lmao:

I have a place near my house that I used to love to eat at, now when we go I get almost anything without salsa. I can eat any cheese, so I like to order Huevos Rancheros. They are eggs, refried beans and tortillas. They usually add tomatoes and sauce, but I tell them I can't and they seem very accomodating. I've also ordered Vegetarian burritos because usually the chicken is very spicy.
Have Fun!
