Well, I have been having bloody diarrhea for 11 days now. I am on anitbiotics but last night it got so bad and there was just SO much blood. I called the doc this morning and they said to go to the hospital.
I received 2 liters of fluids, 2 shots of dialudin and more nauseau meds but they said there isn't much more they can do. The GI doctor says he doesn't belive its an infection since its been going on for so long and continuing to worsen with treatment. I will have a colonoscopy on Mon or Tues. to see if there is inflammation, etc.
The worst part is that the diarrhea is causing a bad flare for me, and its hard to take the pain killers when I am so nauseous already.
Has anyone else had anything like this? I am so  and need :help:.
Thanks so much for listening, its such a comfort to have so many  here on the boards.

Two years ago I had three separate bouts of nausea and loose stools that went undiagnosed. I was hospitalized each time because of extreme dehydration. I really feel for you, because this was before my IC was an issue, as if that isn't problems enough. Hope you find an answer soon as well as some relief!!

have they tested you for c diff bacteria? since you are on antibiotics this is a definite MUST TEST! c diff causes nausea, frequent watery (sometimes bloody) diarrhea. it's a dreadful illness (caused when antibiotics wipe out all the good bacteria) but is managed with flagyl or vacomycin. this usually clears it up. please ask to be tested if you haven't already.
good luck.
ps-if you haven't already, start taking a good (refrigerated) probiotic!

If cultures have been done, I think you're wise to go for the colonoscopy just to be sure there's nothing else going on.
I hope you feel better very soon.

I am so sorry that this is happening to you. I hope your doctors will be able to figure out the cause and that you will start feeling better.

Jeepers, I hope they figure out the problem soon. Are you on antibiotics for the diarrhea or your bladder? I agree with Donna, go with the scope and get a definitive answer.
Hugs and feel better,

I have had migraine headaches for a number of years, but it seems as I get older they get more severe. I have been in the ER this week, then to my PCP, then to my Pain Management Specialist and nothing is helping. I have had demerol with phenergan, phenergan with nuban (not sure if that's correct spelling), taking hydrocodone and phenergran and still I am in intense pain and throwing up. I must have thrown up 20 times yesterday and this has gone on for almost 2 weeks. I am desperate for suggestions...
Thanks!

Sheryle, i hope you feel better soon, that sounds horrible.
My GP mentioned that she thought I had C. Diff and sent a sample for culture but we won't get the results until Mon or tues. At the ER, they switched me to Flagyl; but the GI specialist said that C. Diff doesn't usually last this long and cause so much bleeding. So we will see what the cultures say and probably have the scope to be on the safe side.
I will post tomorrow when I know more. Thanks for all the responses.

Hi everyone! I had my colonoscopy today. It was horrible getting prepped for it because I haven't been able to keep fluids down as it is, let alone all that salty syrup. But I managed.
The Dr. diagnosed me with Ulcerative Colitis, but is reserving the right to amend that when the biopsy results come back. My entire colon is extrememly inflammed and there are multiple bleeding points (ulcers I guess).
So for now I am on Prednisone for 2 weeks to reduce the inflammation and wait for the pathology results.
I know there are so many other memebrs here that suffer from not only IC but digestive diseases/problems. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. And thank you for sending your thoughts and prayers, I know that it has helped me to stay out of the hospital this week.
Lots of lov for all you

Hi everyone,
I had another crazy day and wanted to share.
I barely slept last night from the Prednisone, it makes me so wired. And the nauseau is just out of control, so I barely got any liquids down since the colonoscopy.
My husband went out of town for work; and he and my parents decided that I have to stay at my parents for now. And my mom made me call my GP again today.
WE found out that I also have a UTI and she decided to put me on a fetanyl patch and gave me 2 liters IV fluids.
The fluids really seem to help, and I just applied the patch so waiting to see how that is.
Thanks for your support. I think of you all everyday and hope that you are having a happy flare free day wherever you are.
Beth

I hope this is the beginning of you feeling better. I think it was a very good idea that you stay with your parents. Good for your mom for suggesting that you call your doctor. :)
