Rick and I started the tanning bed today. Last year we took our extremely white snowed in bodies to the carribean and I ended up with sun poisoning the first day even with sun screen from the bad sun burn. So this year I am trying the tanning bed for the month pryor. Keep your fingers crossed.

ok skipped yesterday, went today again for 6 minutes and look like a french fry. I even put sunscreen on in the area's that are sensitive.......on the other hand hubby and Bay are going also and turning alittle red and waking up such a pretty light brown GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I guess I am going on my cruise like french fry.:cussing:

Is it possible that you have anything on your skin at all when you go in the tanning bed? I realized a couple of years ago that I had a residue of hair conditioner on my skin when I went tanning and it promoted my skin to burn rather than tan. It was the person at the tanning salon that suggested it.....just passing it on.......
Or.......maybe there is a supplement or medication you are taking that can cause burning.....
Even the smallest amount of tanning will help and it sounds like you are listening to your body. In the meantime, maybe you can take some short epsom salts baths.

I love tanning, its get's expensive so I haven't done it this winter... maybe soon. Anyways you should check your meds. You have to be careful bc some of them you cant tan while on them it maybe cause you to burn. If not, maybe you should try one of the tanning lotions they sell. they have special bronzer's in them that will help you tan instead of burn. Good luck!!!

Thanks Julie, I just checked my med bottles and no warning stickers but called the pharmacy and my Premarin is sun sensitive, so I found my culprit.

I also found a good bronzer with an SPF in at the salon and have stopped burning :woohoo: I am able to go everyday and increase my time to 10 minutes today. 4 days ago I couldn't do 6 without french frying myself :woohoo: At this rate I may just be able to move up to the hotter beds after all:smile tee
OK OK hubby and the kid are doing better then me with an accelertor with no spf:rant:

I am a redhead and don't tan...I burn...then peel...then burn...then peel...on and on. I have learned that the sun is not necessarily my friend if I am in it for more than 5 minutes. I would be the one who won the Palest Contest on the boat. :lmao:
