Hi All,

Well, I had my second bladder hydrodistention and diagnostic laprascopy last Tuesday. I felt so good after the bladder hydro, I was shocked. My Uro used a rescule afterward and it was amazing!! My first one hurt and I bled like crazy. Amazing how a caring Uro can do those...and he wrote me pain meds. Yeah..I am feeling good. Today, I had some pain around my bladder. The laprascopy showed I had endometriosis. My doctor told me it was around my bladder as well. My poor bladder has taken a beating!! The rescue with "elmiron" really calm me down. My periods have been really painful so that is why I decided upon the laprascopy. My hormones must be out of whack. I am also getting cystic acne on my chin. I never had acne that bad until about 3 years ago when I was diagnosed with IC. So I don't know if there is a connection. I see a dermatologist and they just do these cortsteroid injections and they go away. It's like clockwork with my period. Although, I am considering taking Accutane so this finally stops. Sorry, got on that tangent. I am worried it may affect my bladder. Yet, I have read some IC patients do well on Accutane and others do not. You just don't know. I am glad I had the laprascopy and hydro. I know the endo around my bladder was lasered too.
Wish me luck on my recovery and my overall decison to try helping my menstrual cycle and my breakouts. It's so embarrassing to have this problem at 31 years old.....Geesh!!

Thanks for all your support and prayers,

Hey Jen. Glad your second hydro helped! I had my second one this morning... so far, it isn't as painful as the first one was. He could even stretch out my bladder more than the first time. He also dilated my urethra. The nurse in the recovery room gave me lidocaine (and I asked her for a second tube and she gave me an extra one). It helps the urethral burning tremendously! Also, I got these aloe vera wipes from Walgreens (they are sold near the depends) and man... those washclothes are so soothing to my poor urethra.

If you think it's embarassing at 31... I will be 25 in 2 months! My acne has been terrible this last year (a couple of months after my first IC symptom started). I never thought I'd have a problem like this at my age (bladder and acne). I was put on a topical antibiotic and benzoyl peroxide as tolerated. I was also given doxycycline to take every night. A few years ago, my acne was horrible. No topical med would help, so they put me on doxy and after 3-4 months on it, I was free from all acne. I could stop all topical meds and I remained acne free (for the most part) for 3 years. My acne just started to flare up when my IC started. Don't know why my acne came back at this time. Stress? Just to make my life even more miserable? Well, I am back on doxy and have been on it for a month and most of my acne is gone. I did go and get a glycolic facial treatment (spa treatment which is more gentle than the dermatoligist's chemical peel). So... that helped a ton! She extracted all blackheads and pimples and did the treatment. My skin looked worse for 2-3 days after (all the oil and dirt was coming to the surface due to the treatment), but now my skin has looked better than it has in months!
