View Full Version : Vaginal Burning

PFDorIC

First, ignore my name--I have IC (and not PFD anymore because I had Botox).

Anyway, I've been treated with about a year (on and off) of antibiotics. I stopped the antibiotics about a month ago. I'm now having vaginal/vulvar burning, now. I feel it only when I have sex, and sometimes when I pee. I've been on diflucan, and it SEEMS to help for a few days, but maybe it's placebo.

So, my question is: Can antibiotics give you yeast infections long after (well, a month after) you've stopped taking them, and even after you've been treated with Diflucan and monistat? Or does this sound like something else (side note: I'm diabetic, so that doesn't help). I'm also on Depro-provera, which may be screwing with my estrogen.

Or does this sound more like vulvodynia? Does it usually come on with IC, before or after?

I'm so scared that I might have yet another poorly-understood and incurable problem.

Thanks!

I wish I had some advice for you but I really do not have an answer. Hopefully, someone who does will come along and post.

You could have a build up of yeast in your body causing you to have these problems. Since you have been on so many antibotics I would suggest trying a probiotic. Also in the meantime for the burning you could call and see if your Dr will give you a script for Lidocaine gel. This will help with the buring.

Anitbiotics kill good bacteria and bad...if your body doesn't replensih you can remain vulnerable to yeast afterwards.

I do not think botox cures Pelvic Floor Dysfunction......it can be a great treatment but please remain aware that it doesn't mean you can ignore that. I say this because PFD can cause vaginal burning as well. When you have sex and Pee...both times when more liquid and more muscles are used...so yeast or PFD are both possibilities.

At this point you have some things to consider before worrying about another illness.

I hope you find the answer and feel better and don't have to have another illness to deal with! :grouphug:
