Hi! I want to attempt to make my own tincture . I have never made it before. I was wondering if theres anyone on here with suggestions of where I can but the fresh herbs for the tincture (maybe a site or something that sends them out)? Anyone who has made them that has any advice about it? Dosage they prefer? Thanks!

Also, does it matter whether I use dried or fresh herbs?

Be very careful with valerian. It's one of the supplements I tried a long time ago. I took it at bed time to help me sleep. The following morning I was totally bombed --- scared hubby to death because he couldn't wake me up. I flushed the rest of the bottle.

I do ok with valerina root never a problem that I know of. I have yet to have tried growing it but I would love to find out what others do with herbs where you use the root. I may have a better answer in summer time. My making herbs hat is in stoarage for winter lol
With roots I think sometimes you need to use it fresh to get it ground up and sometimes you need to use it dried to get it ground up...depends on the herb...not having tried Valerian as far as growing myself I can't think of which would be better without my books...sorry.

Katrina~ Am I supposed to grind it up when making tinctures? I just thought I chop it up and put in solution?
