I was on Neurontin for 3 years and I did not have any issues with weight gain.

yes, even on a tiny dose I gained 8# without changing any of my eating habits. I finally got it back off but I have to work really hard at it. The week I didn't take it I started losing weight. But I need it so I'm on it and work hard on the weight.

Although I did not experience that side effect I know from research that yes it is a common side effect for some people.

I was only on it for a short time and I experienced many of it's side effects. Memory loss and weight gain. I wasn't even hungry on it, actually my appetite was so low, but my metabolism decreased as well. We are all different when it comes to any meds. Be sure to read the literature that comes with your meds. I have been on too many meds to count. I don't always have the side effects and sometimes they go away with continued use. It is important to watch for the ones that say to contact your doctor immediately. Neurontin and Lyrica were both that way for me.
On another note, I don't watch alot of commercials anymore, but I did notice one on Lyrica the other day. They are really pushing it for fibro. And I know from postings on here that is has helped alot of peple! I thought it was better than Neurontin at not causing weight gain, but it says on the commercial that it may cause weight gain. I wasn't on it long enough because I immediately had the bad side effects.
