View Full Version : Squatting and Bending: Increased Urethral Burning?

My primary symptom has been horrible urethral burning.
If I vacuum the carpet, or squat to pick something off the floor, my pain doubles, and remains bad all day, sometimes for days after!
Why? If the lining of my urethra is inflamed, why would movements make the pain worse? Doesn't make sense to me.

Squatting to much especially with tight pants on makes my bladder cramp and gives me more frequent urination. Who knows!!??

Exactly... who knows...
Well, if your urethra IS inflamed and is the cause of the pain you are experiencing, then I think it would make sense that it hurts when you do any bending or squatting. When you do that kind of thing, you're putting pressure on that area, and making the smooth muscle tube that is your urethra close in on itself. So if it is inflamed, that kind of contact would undoubtably hurt.
But again, I'm no doctor.... :)

Your urethral pain is worse when squatting and bending because they engage a different set of pelvic floor muscles than walking and standing.
Your urethral spasms and pain are more likely related to pelvic floor disorder than to the urethra or to a bacterial inflammation.
All the nerves for bladder, urethra, vagina, clitoris, lower back, lower leg, lower bowel run through the same tiny hole. When an impingement occurs any or some of the above organs can be effected by referred pain. Eventually, when the pelvic floor spasm becomes chronic the referred pain becomes chronic.
Most of my pain was from urethra before, after I peed, sometimes just sitting down. Turned out I had a two PF areas where the muscles were so tight they were like steel bands. After internal vaginal physical therapy they more or less released. However at the movies last week I put my legs up on a railing and after a few minutes had a terrible urethral spasm and urge to pee. When I got up to go pee, the change in body from bent legs to straight and walking released the PF and the urethral spasm went away.
If you are really miserable I would suggest to try to find a physical therapist that specializes in womens problems or check with a vulvar specialist who is used to hearing these complaints. Some Gyno's understand this, some do not. My Uro used to tell me the urethral pain was just part of IC, but it was PFD. I think most ICers have some degree of PFD and just dont know it because the pain localizes in the bladder or urethral area and they just blame IC--I know I did.

Ah, thanks!
I know this is an old post but was noticing that the bending over would cause my urethral pain to greatly increase! Now I know what at least is behind it.
