Hi...

I went to my dr today and she prescribed me neurontin. This is a drug I hadnt even looked into because I thought it was basically a pain med.

I do have dull pain from the annoying pressure and feeling of always having to go... but not sharp pain.

Anyway, my dr seems to think it is worth a shot for the frequency problem. Has anyone else tried it for this or heard of using it for this???

I am taking neurontin and hydroxizine as well as Elmiron. Together, they seem to be helping. I still frequently have the urge so I do go quite a bit. I guess the theory behind the neurontin is that the nerves are overly sensitive and therefore send the signal that makes us feel that need to go. I am on a relatively low dose, I guess as I have been told that we can easily go up to 900-1200mg per day. I had to work up slowly as I got very tired initially. I am trying to get to 600 but was stuck at 400mg for a few weeks. I have taken the extra 100mg at bedtime the past 3 nights and am tired but coping. Hoping htat I can get tot the target of 600 and stay there with relief. Not sure what dose you were given but expect to feel very tired initially. Pudendal nerve blocks help me a lot with this as I don't have that feeling down there. They wear off after a day or so but it is nice while it lasts. It also provides pain relief so it is worthwhile for me. Good luck!

I remember it helped with the overall pain. It did also help with the pain I experience during urination. at this point I don't usually have as much frequency as i did in the beginning. So did it help that? maybe. All I know is that when I pee my whole bladder hurts in what feels like a big spasm and it did help that.
My reaction? my mouth was very dry (that was ok) but my tongue felt burnt and my throat was swollen.so they took me off it.
