Hello all
I am looking for anyone that knows about the Mayo clinic in Minnesota.
I went and saw a new gynecologist today about my endometriosis. He suggested with all my medical issues that I really need to go to Mayo since I have seen so many doctors in the last year and it seems no one can help me with all my medical issues. He thinks there may be something, he said "RARE" wrong that everyone is missing and that is why no one can help.
I brought in 12 pages of notes of things that happened just in the last year with dates and all and he said you are very complicated....the famous words of every doctor I see.
The problem is my insurance won't cover Mayo but the dr said because I have seen such an extensive list and no one can help the insurance may pay.
Does any one know how to go about working with the insurance?
I am tired and exhausted and I don't know how much more energy I have to do all this but I will sure try!

So I guess this post is two questions.

Anyone know about getting into Mayo?

Anyone know about insurance issues?

Thanks for any suggestions/help!

As far as insurance goes, you may have to have your Dr's and I mean any of them that will write a letter of medical necessity to your insurance company explaining that you have done all treatment option for your listed diagnosis within your network and state with no relief. The will need to list dates, procedures, and outcomes including why it failed. Theyw ill need to explain why they feel the Mayo Clinis is the best option for you at this point and that it is something they have exhausted there expertise in.

Usually this will get it approved but you may have to pay more then your usual 80/20 or whatever your out of pocket are may increase to do this. But it may be worth it.

Seriously I am in MN and the VERY BEST Dr in the whole country for endometriosis is here. His name is Dr. Charles Haislett. He is in Edina. I can't imagine your insurance wouldn't cover him. I have tons of complications. He helped me with IC, hernia and Stage 4 endo. He is a genius. Truly compassionate and an excellent surgeon. He is at Diamond Women's Center. Google that and you will find him.

As far as Mayo, most insurance covers a second opinion. And Mayo has an excellent one day second opinion option. You go and see a ton of specialists all throughout the day. They then meet at the end and decide how to best help you. They give you written instructions to take back home to your reg dr. Great program. They have people who help you figure out the insurance, etc. Google Mayo's second opinion program and all you need should be right there.

Hope that helps!
