I'm getting sick and I am pretty sure it is just a cold. I have been sneezing all day and just kinda achey feeling. I am going to just take it easy this weekend. Warm up some peppermint tea, take warm showers and just rest.

What are some favorite home remedies you like to make you feel better?

I use a wet warm wash cloth on my forehead and it really helps. Sometimes I go on a short walk to try to get my blood pumping and make my nasel passages clear out.
There are sure a lot of colds going around this winter! I've been sick a couple times. I hope you are feeling better soon!!!

Cough drops and IC don't usually mix well, so I boil water put a cherry hall's in it let it melt and breath it. Works for the congestion and doesn't bother my bladder. Smells better then Vicks also.......

I use it for the little ones at night with bad cough's also instead of Vick's in the humidifier. Just set it up out of reach. Last for ever and you just re-boil it and recycle a couple times

Plain saline nasal spray, aspirin or tylenol, rest, lots of liquids. I like to drink herbal tea when I have a cold. Usually I curl up in a corner with a blanket and pout until I feel better! I think I hate a cold worse than anything!

Sending warm well wishes,
Donna

It is really the pits isn't it. I just keep gradually going downhill as the night goes on. I suck on those Fruit Breezers, they don't bother me too much. I drink lots of fluids and am just taking it easy. I hope anyone else who is feeling yucky finds some good ideas in this thread to help all of us feel better soon!

Im battling the end of a chest cold right now. Everyone at work kept telling me to try Musinex. I finally took their advice. It works!

Like others, drinking lots of fluids, rest, and my electric blanket.

Sorry to hear you're getting sick! That such a rotten realization!

Last month, about two days before flying to Vegas, I realized I had a cold coming on. Lots of folks were sick up here, so it was no surprise to me that less than a week following my art show I was coming down with a bug. I was not going to be sick in Vegas! I'd seen those ads for a product on tv,...you know, reduces symptoms and shortens the duration of your cold? So I tried it.

There's no way of knowing because you don't know what the cold would have been like had you taken nothing. But I started it with-in 24 hours of my cold's onset and with-in a day my cold was all but non-existent. A few days later my hubby began to get sick and he took it too with the same results.

No IC flare either. Was it just an extremely mild, short cold, or did that product really kick butt? I'm almost looking forward to my next cold to see if it works again!

Vicki

(I edited out the product name since this may be considered advertising?)

Well, I have come to the conclusion that this is the flu I have rather than a cold. I have felt miserable this weekend. I still have not broke my temp. I have fever, chills, headache, body aches and a dry hacky cough and did I mention washed out.

I am going to be so glad to get flu season over with. We have more snow on the way and our windchill is awful.

Tomorrow is a new day and I am sure I will be feeling better. I hope everyone else who has this crud is getting better!

I'm a big wimp when it comes to a cold or flu. I just throw everything I can at it...

For colds...
Here are a few of my favorite (for me, IC friendly) cold remedies:
1. Hot showers with a "Sudacare Shower Soother" on the floor (fizzy tablet that releases Vicks type vapors when the hot water hits it)
2. Rinsing nose out with "Simply Saline"-reduces congestion
3. Vicks "Baby Rub"- milder than regular Vicks & more soothing
4. BreatheRight nasal strips (stick on to outside of your nose to open it up more)
5. Hot pear juice with a little honey
6. For sore throat & to soothe dry cough, Werthers Original hard candy
7. Gargle with salt water
8. Homemade chicken soup (I add a little red bell pepper for vitamin C)
9. Mucinex for chest coughs
10. Ludens Licorice Throat Drops
11. Vaporizer next to bed, mine has a place to put menthol liquid in it.
12. Neo-Synephrine nasal spray: I can only do one dose of this or I think it might bother my bladder (not really sure), but one dose has been okay to clear nasal congestion. (I've not had a cold, knock-on-wood, but have had some mysterious middle of the night allergy attacks recently)

Fluids, fluids, fluids, Vicks, chicken soup, tissue and leave me the hell alone.
