I had been until around September, but I can't get them filled anymore unless I go to a compound pharmacy. The last I heard from the manufacturer was that they would start them up again in March, but I had already been given November as the date before that, so no telling. Thankfully I don't need them like I used to because when I could get them through the regular pharmacy, they were only $5.00 for 90 supp. To get them compounded they are a little more than $3.00 each. I have a prescription if I need them, but my doctor also gave me 3 supp to have just in case I needed them.

I have used them as well, but cannot them either. I also cannot get them compounded here either. Pity, though, cause they were helping alot.

I can't find B@O either! I hope they start making them again.I'm doing research and haven't found anything about them yet. If someone finds something out or locates them, please let me know!! B@O has been a life saver for me many times!

The only experience I have with them was in the hospital after a hydro --- and we called them "magic bullets" because they killed the pain so quickly without making me nauseated.

What my insurance company told me since I am trying to get them through my insurance now and let them do all the research is that they may possibly be out in March, (this was around January when I was told this information) but that they will not be in the generic form right off. I hope that they will be out soon and cheap enough for the people that need them to get them easily. When I needed them earlier last year and through the summer, they were a big help. It wasn't very long ago that they were the only way I could get any relief at night, especially when I would wake up from a sound sleep with horrible burning and stabbing pain. I will sent a message to my insurance company again to see if they can find out the latest news. Then I will post what they say.

By the way, I could get them compounded with my doctor's prescription, but they really weren't as effective as the ones that I used that were manufactured. I thought I would keep the few that I was able to keep for emergency use, but I definitely didn't get the same benefit as before. Plus, they were between $3.25 and $4.00 EACH supp when I could get 60 to 90 a month for $5.00. (generic).

They were especially helpful to me when I would wake up in intense pain and spasms and would work quickly and help my Lortab work better, therefore not causing me to stay awake so long waiting for my meds to start working. I hope I will never need them again, but once they are available again, I will get one prescription filled just in case I happen to "back slide" with my pain level again.

Tracey, I know exactly about the stabbing pains waking you up at night! This is mainly when I used them instead of taking more of other meds. Sometimes the combination makes me feel "almost" normal!:) Thanks and keep us posted!!!

What are B&O suppositories? Thanks,

Belladonna & Opium suppositories. They are for pain management and are inserted into your "bum". The first time I learned of them was when I was sent to the ER via ambulance because of a horrible flare that I had in public. Donna refers to them as the magic bullet! It takes away my pain and spasms very quickly.

I was near the pharmacy today where I get mine and I almost drove over to it to find out if they had any in yet...but, they told me they would call and they are very good at letting me know when my suppositories come in. SIGH! I have been having some spasms lately and they helped so much. They also helped keep me from being so constipated! That was a great side effect of them. I was comfortable all the way around when I was using them. I am sick of this wait personally. One day.......

I sent an email to my insurance/pharmacy program. I will hear within 24 hours if they are able to get any from their suppliers. I was told at least March early in January, but I am keeping my fingers crossed. Like Sandy said, they were a big help. And with the way my body goes, I never know when I may need one again. Luckily I have been fine without them since the ones that were compounded for me were not as effective. My doctor said that he had several patients report the same effects. You would think there would be something out there similar to help people with 24/7 pain.

Have any of you tried valium and boric acid sup you insert in your vagina? They have been a God Send for me. My compounding pharmacysist said that people with late stage cancer insert them up their bum for pain.

God Bless,

I need to look up the Boric Acid supp. That may be something that would help if I find myself back where I was last summer. Thanks for the info! I am living in a huge since of security right now since I have had so many good weeks, even months in a row, but with my history, I never now if I could go into a flare again. Do they cost very much? Not that it matters if I am in "that" kind of pain, but just wondering.

Thanks, T83

PS. I just briefly googled it and it said Boric acid supp was for yeast infections. Do they also help with spasms from IC? I don't get yeast infections.

They are valium and boric acid is for yeast, because they tend to stay wet down there causing yeast to form. the valium is for pain.

OMG, you are so blessed to not have to worry about yeast infections.

I had read on another post to use regular vlium pills in the vagina. The nurse at the uro thought I was nuts. I called my gyno, he had never heard of it either, but was willing to try. I have been doing 10mg a day for a little over a week. I swear my bladder has not felt this good in YEARS I would rate my pain at just a 1, with the exception of one day.

I have to restate my original post. I have had 1 yeast infection in my life. I remember asking my Bunko girlfriends how I would know if I had a yeast infection. Don't we have great conversations during Bunko??? One of my friends said, that I would know because I would want to "bring out the bottle brush"!

Yes, I am very lucky! I have a good friend that's daughter just turned 13 and she is already having yeast infections. They are trying to figure out why. She has not shown "any" signs of puberty yet.
