Well, I have been snacking on cookies, cookies and more cookies just about everyday since Jan. 1. It took me all of NOvember to finally get off of sweets and I felt soooooooo much better. Now I'm hooked all over again. think mostly due to nerves. Not sure if I can kick the sweets again. It is so hard and my choletseral I am sure is going up. Go next week to see if it went down any in those 3 months. I did start drinking flavored water. Has 40 calories to bottle but the bottle is enough for a whole day for me but I can get that down a lot easier then plain water. Any suggestions on how to re-kick my no sweets habit? Other people in the house want the sweet sso can't throw them out. I have been eating oranges on and off. try to get 2 in a day. I'm fine until mid noon and on.

Hey chickie! I know, it seems once you get on a roll with something like that, it feels like square one all over again, ugh. I say it's got to be a balancing act - if you deprive yourself totally, eventually you're going to come undone and go nuts, ha ha. ;) But if you limit what you get, you don't feel the deprivation and will stick to it easier. Like allow yourself a couple cookies a day - that's just an example.

I find that if I take something away from myself completely, even if I don't really want it - I want it anyway just because I can't have it, ha, then I go waaaaaaay overboard. Where, instead, if I'd had a "ration" of it, I did better and most times was able to turn it down because I could - I had the choice. ;)

You're doing great and you'll get back on track - I have faith in you!!! :)

You did it once, Mary. You can do it again. :)

I have an incredible sweet tooth and am a total chocaholic...but back in November I cut that and regular soda out of my diet and I do feel much better. You can absolutely do it again! Here is a ton of will power coming your way--you can do it! :)

When I was diagnosed with diabetes in September, it finally hit home that I have to be careful about sweets. I took diabetes education classes and learned that if I don't try to completely deprive myself of everything I love, it works much better for me. And I have scheduled snacks so I don't ever get really hungry. If I have breakfast at 8:00, then at 10 or 10:30 I plan on having a fruit (I totally can't have oranges), usually an apple or sometimes a small banana.

That holds me until lunch --- then a scheduled snack mid-afternoon. That's when I have any sweets and I stick with the 100 calorie snack packs. They are a wonderful development!

What I'm saying is to not totally deprive yourself of sweets, but do set yourself some limits.

Good luck
!

Tracey, cluck cluck. Cluck cluck cluck cluck cluuuuuuuuuckl cluck cluck. Sorry I just could not stop myself from doing that. :bonk:

I got up this morning. Looked in the mirror and after screaming from the shock of it all I slapped myself and said, "Wake up girl! You have more will power then a twinkie! Plus I'm tired of wearing garbage bags for cloths!" So, I'm back on track this morning. Plus I know they will weigh me on Wednesday. Oh, how I dread the scales. So need to get off those extra two pounds I gained back by then. I would snack on no sugar candy and have no fat pudding and stuff. Just stayed off of the "hard" sweets. Now I know how hard it is for a person to stop smoking.

Here is to me and my skinny black dress! Where ever it might be yet for me to buy. They say if you hang out a piece of skinny clothing you want to fit into that it helps to keep you on track. Was thinking I could take down all the pictures in the rooms and hang my old skinny cloths off of them. Will power at every glance.

Donna, so sorry about finding out you are diabetic. You also have that weak feeling thing too. Can't remember the name. Do you still have that as well?

Thanks again everyone for the pep-kick in my rear (and yes it is big enough to get kicked by all :lmao:) ! Just what I needed.

Oh and Tracey, Cluck cluck cluck...which means write to ya later....Monster attacks you know. I'm sure you understand completely. hee hee I seem to have gotten up on the silly side of the bed this morning. Did have a great night of sleep. Had a few nightmares but didn't toss back and forth for 8 hours.

You're so lucky you can eat oranges! Thats one thing my bladder doesn't allow, at all anymore. I bought some blood oranges, and they are SO good...but one slice from my son's orange and I had some major bladder pain. It was short lived thankfully but sure showed me that I still can't eat them! :(

I agree with Donna...try eating them in moderation because if you totally deprive yourself it's so much harder to stick to a plan. You know that saying, "everything in moderation" !
