I have had 5 nerveblocks done without much relief. I feel the numbness, but it doesn't last long and it doesn't really help. My nerve block was done in my doctors office. I am wondering what the guided nerve blocks are like, and if they would maybe work better. My doctor has missed my nerve twice so I question if its in the right spot at all. Has anyone had both, or can anyone tell me their experience with a CT guided ner block was like?

I've never had a nerve block; hopefully some who have had them will respond.

Sorry, I haven't had one but I do know that there are people here who have. Maybe you can do a search using the words "nerve block" and see if you can find some back posts regarding this. You can find the link to Search at the top of this page in dark blue with white letters.

Dorothy, I have had the guided Nerve Block twice. It definitely helps. I can't imagine having that done in the office! I was anesthesized both times and kept until they were sure I had relief from the procedure. Don't give up, there are alot of alternatives to helping manage the pain now. And we're learning more every day.

i have had numerous guided nerve block done in the pain clinic that i go to. they help so much i can not believe it. the first time i had it done i stayed the office to see the resluts for a few hours but now i just have to have someone drive me cause of the anithesia so you can not drive. hope that helps. it really works for me. there are also different nerves that the dr can be "going" after so you might want to look into what nerve bundle your dr is treating you for to start with.

I have had both nerve blocks. Guided where I was given anesthesia and also I have had nerve blocks done in an office without anesthesia.
I really haven't had much luck with either. It helps the first day and that was about it for me.

What nerve are they blocking? I have pudendal nerve blocks in my dr's office and they are not guided by any type of xray equipment. He pushes on the end of the pudendal nerve until he finds the right spot. I have to really pay attention to what my body is telling me to make sure he has got it dead on. Then he does the injection and he usually nails it. I find that I get about a day of relief from them but my dr told me I should get more relief over time. I know that they have at least some long term effects because I have gotten them once a week for awhile and when I missed a week due to my husband having surgery my pudendal nerves were in so much pain by the time I went back the following week to get another block.
