My younger sister (who has recently got kicked outa the house- as was i) was taken out of high school her junior year i believe. My parents decided she was doing terrible and needed to be home schooled. I dont know how all that works but bekah said it was a joke, it wasnt real classes it was like religious classes. Anyways she's now 17 turning 18 in march, she was going to study and try to get her GED. However I think it's better for her to go back to high school and get a diploma... it looks alot better. My sister and our family friend whose practically like a mother to us, we all went to dinner the other night and convinced bek it was a good idea to go to hs and get her diploma.
I dont know alot about this stuff... my sister said she has to call my mom to see if they disenrolled her from school?? Tomorrow (thursday) my sister and i are going to the hs to find out how to go about getting her back in school and see where she can start. Does anyone have any advice of what to bring with us of what I should do to prepare for a meeting with the principal?
also you you could all pray for it to go smoothly and work out that'd be great. Thanks

I would think they would have had to disenroll her, or the school would have been looking into it. I would bring her birth certificate and SS card to prove who she is.

They should still have her transcripts there. I wish you and your sister luck, if for some reason they don't let her come back, a technical school can at least land her her GED.

The school should have her records. If there's a problem, you may need to go to Children's Services and ask for either you or your other sister to be her guardian until she reaches 18. Or they can ask your parents to sign emancipation papers to declare her an adult at 17.

Good luck! I think her returning to high school is a wonderful idea. She will be able to finish school and get a diploma, and also hopefully will have a social life too.

Warm hugs,
Donna

You usually have to be able to prove that the student lives in the district.

Her transcripts should be at her high school still. If not at your County Board of Education office.

The women nancy from the school just called me and said that we have to go to the fmaily court and become the legal guardians in order for her to go back to hs. I said well she's gunna be 18 in 2 months cant she do it herself then? she said no, that we sill have to have paperwork stating we're the legal guardians. Now what!?
