If you're interested in causes take a look at a theory called Leaky Gut Syndrome. It has some interesting root causes about how we may have first contracted our illnesses through exposure or through bad infections. It talks about taking various supplements contained on this very website like aloe, Quercitin found in CystoProtek, Glucosamine, etc. Or you can read the article on the internet like I did at website:

I believe I would be your perfect example a a person with both IC and a leaky gut. I have inflammatory bowel disease, an autoimmune disease of the gastrointestinal tract. Last thanksgiving, I was so ill with diarrhea, vommiting, nausea, pain and fever of 103.2, that I called my doctor on a holiday. I hate calling my doctor during off hours, so I have to think I am dying to do so. I was told to go to the Er, where I was admitted as a inpatient. My high fever that had gone on for 5 days at that time was a mystery. An infectious disease specialist was called in to try to figure out what was going wrong. The doctor's best guess after numerous test, was my intestinal wall was leaking bacteria into my bloodstream. I was treated with IV's for electrolyte imbalance, infection, and nausea. I am still on steroids to try to heal my intestinal linning. So, I think it is very possible to have both a leaky bladder and a leaky gut. Maybe a genetic flaw is responsible. Anyway you look at it it sure HURTS!

It's ALL related!! There is just too much connection with all the IC'ers and the huge number of autoimmune diseases they keep diagnosing us all with! I truly believe it all starts in the GUT. This toxic waste, bacteria and or parasites then systemtically go from one part of our body to the other creating more damage! Thus the stomach disorders, leaky bladder, fibro, arthritis, IBS, the list is endless!
What is interesting to me is that this THREAD which was previously posted on another topic has generated no interest. To each his own. I will not sit idly by and watch my body slowly destruct itself. I plan to take action!!

There is an internet link at the top of this thread with an article talking about how to get tested for some of this stuff. I believe you go to a natural practitioner. If you post a message to tabasco32, she knows alot about this stuff too. Good luck!!
