I just found out that Federal Student Loans will be forgiven (that is, cancelled), if you become permanently disabled. They have a long form that has to be filled out by a doctor. I don't know whether I will meet this standard or not, but I thought it was a good thing to know, and if any of the rest of you are unable to work but still carrying student loans, please call your loan provider!
That's good to know Carolyn! Thanks for letting us know!
One other thing...Some states who have property taxes will forgive all or a portion of the property taxes if you're on SS Disability. Just thought I'd share, in case it would help someone out...:)

I didn't know it either (boy, they sure don't go out of their way to advertise it!) but my sister who is a lawyer working with SS cases told me she saw this in someone's file, and insisted that I check it out. Turns out to be true!
So call your loan provider. If it's Direct Loans, they also have the form on their website.
