I knew that I would be out this weekend so I had my pharmacy fax a refill request Thurs. Well, haven't heard back from them and the nurse answering calls told me to go to the ER. I do not want to do that but I know I probably should because now I am starting the anxiety/withdrawl feeling. Does anybody know any tricks to make it through for a couple of days? My doctor's office won't be open tomorrow and I am screwed!

By the way, I have Lexapro that I took once and didnt like the headache feeling it gave me. Does anyone have experience with taking that and does it help right away? I also have elavil that I dont take because it causes my heart to race after taking it for a while.

Hi, Lexapro is not something that works right away, it can take months to work, and if you have that side effect from Elavil I wouldn't take it, I would get advice from your primary doctor, is that who you called? Or the doc prescribing it and do what they say. Isn't there a doc on call that could call it in for you? If not and you really need it, I would do what they say and go to the ER. Good luck.

I am with Lisa call the MD on call for your medical group tell him your drug and dose. Also have handy the pharmacy phone number you want it called into that is much appreciated by the md. If not then go to urgent care. I don't know how long you have taken ativan but you just can't stop taking it. You must wean. The withdrawal there will be nothing for you to take. Don't put yourself through this. Call MD on call first call now. Do that before you go to Er. If he says no then go to urgent care or fast track of the ER- cheaper price.

My doctor's office DOES NOT HAVE an on-call doctor. There is only a nurse line that will triage me to go to the ER. My doctor will be open tomorrow , I misread the online site, and luckily I am doing great. I will be able to get my prescription first thing tomorrow, and know that I am feeling a lot better! I understand completely the possibility of having withdrawl but so far so good. I just really wanted to know what others have gone through to get through the anxiety. Here in Oklahoma there is usually no less than a 4 to 8 hour wait to see a doctor in the ER, so unless I am dying, I try to avoid going there. I am better off at home for now. Regardless, my doctor's office is open tomorrow so I am going to make an appointment to be seen that day just in case they don't call it in. Thank you everybody for your concern!:)

Can you go to a regular med clinic? Not ER Also our pharmacist knows us so well that if we have troubles like what you have they will give us one pill to tie us over until we can get to our physician. You might want to talk to your pharmacist. I also get a racing heart from Elavil sometimes. I only take .5 mg now.
