Fibromyalgia

Hello
I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of narcotics making fibromyalgia pain worse? I was told by a dr that being on so many high doses of narcotics can actually make the fibro pain worse.
Luckily my pain dr understands that I could not function without my pain meds everyday. They actually doubled my pain patch and break through meds since my pain continues to increase.

Hi, I never heard of that. That doesn't make sense to me but maybe theres some reasoning behind that? Thats the first time I heard it though. All docs have a different view of things, and there own beliefs. I am glad you have a pain doc who understands. :)

Well, I have not heard of it specifically in regards to fibro but I do know that hydrocodone makes my IC pain MUCH worse!!!

Sounds like bunk to me. I couldn't function without my meds and I've had fibro for years now. Even if I'm only a few hours late taking my meds my body starts screaming at me! Sounds like one of those doctors who doesn't believe in fibro and surely doesn't understand it!
