Is there an 'ideal' pH range for IC patients. I saw one resource saying 4.6-8.0. Mine (last tested) was a pH of 8.0, so mine is more basic than acidic. Maybe that is why my urine doesn't scald me like others deal with?
i have no clue, but am curious to what others have to say.. also can your urine ph change constantly

Yes, your urine PH changes constantly. PH becomes more basic when citric acids are ingested such as lemons, tomatoes. Most ICers complain these foods give them terrible flares--go figure.
If your urine runs 8, which is very basic, I would wonder if you have a problem with UTI infections as bacteria love a non acid urine. On the other hand a PH of around 5 can cause some irritation on the vulva of some females and some ICers complain of symptoms.
I guess it what ever works for you. If is almost impossible to manipulate your body or your urine PH, regardless of what some naturopaths try to tell you. You can effect your PH in urine short term but your body will balance it out to whatever is usual for you. You can ingest huge amounts of baking soda and that will alkalize it and give you a blinger of a infection if you take too much.

Thanks Sammi!
I just didn't know what is considered normal... and if more basic was better for IC than acidic. I guess since our symptoms and signs vary greatly, so should our urine pH? This is one screwy disease :bonk:
