Elmiron, how many eat when taking this medication?

You know how you are supposed to wait to eat 30 minutes after taking the pill on an empty stomach or 1 hour after eating you can take it again, I think, right? Well that is impossibe for me because I have always got something in my mouth so I take the medicine anyways. Am I alone in this? Im wondering because I just finished my first month and I don't feel anything, and I know its supposed to take a while but the method they want you to use is hard for me, anybody else?

You are supposed to wait one hour to eat after you take Elmiron on an empty stomach or two hours after you have eaten something. I honestly think Elmiron works much better on an empty stomach. If it is hard for you to take during the day try taking it in the late PM hour and early AM hours. I take one before I go to bed, one sometime in the middle of the night and one when I get up.( I always wake up in the middle of the night to use the restroom) That way you can eat anything you want during the day and you don't have to worry about taking a pill until evening. That way all pills are taken on an empty stomach. It took about 6 months for Elmiron to work for me so don't give up. :)

I just take it with breakfast and dinner and it works for me despite everyone saying it has to be taken on an empty stomach. My stomach couldn't handle it without food. It took about a month to start working but I also stuck to the IC diet very strictly during that month and then slowly added foods back in. I think 1 month is fairly quick. My dr said it would take 2 or 3 months.

I can see why...It is hard to understand the directions at first. I remember those days. I would ask the pharmacist how to take it and he would tell me different that the directions. I was confused. Hang in there.

I take the first one around 5a.m. (I usually have to get up and go to the bathroom at this time); the second one around 3p.m this is about 2-3 hours after lunch; and the third right around bedtime. Every once in awhile, I mess up on the afternoon one and I don't take it, but I haven't really noticed a difference.

I do the exact same as Mary. I also usually don't take the afternoon pill either, just the early AM and late PM. I never take it with food, I want it to work the best it can! But I understand it can be challenging to follow that.

You just took me back. I had a hard time with it when I was on it. I did follow it strictly for a while and it was tough. I lost weight. I wouldn't worry that much if I were you. It can take such a long time to work and for me it didn't. Best of luck though!!!
