If you could spend some time with someone that is famous (living or dead) who would it be and why?

I would love to meet and talk to Amy Grant. I have loved her music since I was in my teens and just think she is such a special person.

Well I would really enjoy meeting Randy Orton from the WWE, Matt Damon, Joaquin Phoenix...LOL

I'd enjoy meeting the cast of The Office because it's my favorite t.v. show...

I'd love to meet Dean Koontz and Fern Michaels and discuss their writing...I love them both...

I'd like to meet Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and all the other news-making "celebs" and tell them to hide away for awhile so that real news can take over for awhile...

Hmm that's about it for now. Meds kicked in and I can't think.

I actually am acquainted with some famous people, or at least very well known people, so this strikes me as no big deal. But if I could sit and talk to someone from the past -- wow. I am really fascinated by American history, and my very weird dilemma is, would I choose Laura Ingalls Wilder or John Adams?

Sarah Brightman. Her music and esp. her DVD's have carried me through so many hard times. It feels like she sang all those songs just for me.

I would also love to meet Laura Ingals Wilder. As a kid, I was fascinated with her books and her life. Ive read just about everything written about her. At one time, I wanted to become a writer.

I would also like to meet Johnny Cash. I find his life very interesting!

I was a Laura Ingalls nut. My neighbor used to make me dresses like hers and I actually wore them to school. I used to always wish I could go back into time and give her a bike and show that old Nellie Olsen!

I have been to her museum in Manville, MO before. Hubby took me up there when we had gone up to Branson one time.

Tracey

I still Tivo the show on TBS as well as the Waltons.

Oh Matthew McConaughey...I would just stand there and look stupid!

My husband actually got to go on the Universal Studios lot and watch the filming and rehearsal of some of the shows several years ago. He had a friend that worked on the fiber optics, so he got him in and they would watch the actors from the catwalks. He really wanted to get on the Friends set, but it was absolutely closed when they were filming. This was a long time ago when Murphy Brown was still on. He got to go on the ER set and met a few of the minor actors and also Dr. Doug Ross. He had just broken his foot while playing basketball. You know the basketball goal that he and Dr. Green used to play on. The crew had actually had got white spray paint and sprayed around Dr. Ross's body where he fell. They had to stop filming Batman while his leg was healing. He also got to mean Dean Cain (spelling) from Lois and Clark. He said he was the nicest down to earth person he ever met.

He went and took pictures of where they filmed Walton's Mountain for me, but the house had burned down, but he did get a picture of the pond and barn, which meant alot to me.

Actually come to think of it, my sister chelesa's husband Joe is an actor. He's met Matthew McConaghey before. Joe said he's really weird like before he's ready to act he has to scream at the top of his lungs then says his lines. Its one of those weird ritual things. I told joe, that man could scream as loud as he wanted or fart in my face and i'd still love him. He's sooo hott! hahaha

I met Dean Cain in college (cannot claim to know him now). Back then, he passionately wanted to be a writer.

I also went to the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum in MO. Fabulous experience!

I met Dean Cain too! It was years ago backstage at a concert. He was dating Mindy McCready and she was the opening act. lol I have met alot of famous people though, once you are around them alot you realize that most of them are just normal people. It's still neat though.

I met/saw Hilde from Trading Spaces. Not that she is an important person. Sorry to the people that don't mind hay on their walls or wine labels as wallpaper. Anyway she was as the bookstore that my son was working at. I first noticed her shoes and just looked up. She was giving autographs for her book. She asked me if I had her book and I just said no and walked away. Oh, (didn't know this at the time) but I rode up the elevator some of band from Molly Hatchett (showing my age...I didn't know a thing about them) when I was in the Maxwell House Hotel when I was in high school. Some of the kids were whispering about Molly Hatchett being in the hotel and I said that I never heard of her. The guys in the band just smiled.

That is the extent of my famous people except for shaking hands and one line sentences to several Christian bands that came to my church. That is why I would love to meet Amy Grant. Her concert was the first Christian concert that I ever went to. I just watched her on Oprah the other day and I just thought she would be a neat person to meet.

I have never met Amy Grant, but I have met Vince Gill. Along with a number of singers, mostly country.... I lived and worked in Nashville one summer. The best summer of my life. I worked with and met about every country singer that was popular at that time. Tim, Faith, Kenny, Martina... I could go on and on. Oh memories..... that was prior to my IC as well. I had no idea how good I had it back then. There was always a ton of stuff going on and I was always up for anything. I would do anything to have that back and not have to worry about how I will feel!!

Oh Jena, I am so jealous! I try to go to every country concert I can. I have even managed to be in the first few rows at times, but never got to actually "see" them. When my hubby and I were coming home from the last Tim and Faith concert here in Memphis, we saw Faith's bus on our way home on I-40. My husband kept telling me to look ahead, and I finally noticed Faith's profile on the back of the bus. I was excited just seeing that! I am so easily impressd!

We were in Myrtle Beach, SC for vacation one time and we already had tickets for Kenny Chesney concert (this was years ago, right after he highjacked the horse with Tim McGraw!) and we saw him playing basketball with his band. People were gathered around since this is before he was big time, but we were on our way to another thing we had tickets for so we couldn't stay to watch. I tried so hard to win back stage passes, but I knew I would be so tongue tied if I even had the chance.

My older son played in a couple of Vince Gill's golf tournaments Vince sponsored and probably still sponsors for junior golfers, back when he was in highschool, but he only saw him in the crowd.

One of my husbands friends works for some company (Kraft I think) that sent him to Nashville on business for a few days and he went to play golf in Franklin while he was up there. He actually got to play golf with Vince because he was by himself and the people in the clubhouse asked him if he wanted to play in a twosome. When he went out to the golfcart area there was Vince Gill! Mike called his wife so that Vince would talk to her so she would know he didn't make it up. What was funny was Mike was in no way a country music fan, big 80s rock type person and he couldn't think of any songs that Vince Gill sang! We still tease him about that. Mike said that he was so genuinely nice.

Thanks for sharing your info! Everytime we go to Murfreesboro to see my son in college, we go through Franklin and Brentwood to see some of the stars houses (that we can see from the road). I have some friends that have seen Faith Hill in the mall (I think it was Cool Springs with her daughters and they were playing on the playset in the middle of the mall). She said that no one approached them or even acted like it was a big deal. I guess that is how it is in Nashville.

Mike's story reminded me of something that happened back in '79. I managed a small convenience store north of Austin TX. Willie Neson would hold these 4th of July picnics nearby, drawing major country music performers.

So I kept the store open late the night of the concert, hoping to catch the home-bound traffic. A bunch of guys came in, loaded their arms full of junk food, beer, etc. I asked if they'd been at the concert.

They stared at me for a bit, then one pointed to another guy and said, "Don't you know who he is? We played at the concert!" I said no. They told me his name and I just shook my head, "Sorry, never heard of you." They set down their groceries and gave me a private concert there in the store.

Though they were very good, for the life of me, to this day I don't remember their name!

I can understand no one saying much at the mall if it was in her living area. You learn pretty fast when you are around people like that that the people they respect the most are those who treat them like normal people.

I seriously could go on and on and on with stories. I wasnt kidding. Did you say you saw Kenny playing bball or Tim?? Well I have actually played bball with Tim!! no kidding. Just shooting around, but they used to set up a portable hoop backstage at alot of his outdoor shows and him and the band would shoot around and play some games. I think they liked to do it to be able to stretch their legs and get some exercise. I did sooo many cool things back when I was hanging out in Nashville it was insane. I cant even count the number of Tim and Faith concerts I have been too and how many concerts I have been backstage at. I have been on Tim's bus a couple times. I have even watched Gracie while Tim and Faith sang a song together at a couple shows and I remember one time I kept an eye on Dulaney too (Martina oldest daughter I think) she was only about two at the time. Martina gave her a peanut butter sandwich and then had to run on stage. lol It's funny the things you remember.

I was very fortunate though, I grew up around the music industry. My aunt worked for Alabama for 10 years (thru the 80's when they were really having their run). I was born in 1980 so I was literally exposed to it all since birth. I have pictures of when I was just a little baby in a bonnet and Teddy Gentry (from Alabama) is giving me a kiss. I have another from when I was like 2 and Jeff (fiddle player) was doing the same thing. My aunt actually got married in Jeff's house (which is literally a castle). I was the flower girl. :) She went there every Thanksgiving almost as well and my gma and I went down with her a few years. Later in life she had to move to Nashville and worked for a few different names, but the main one being Tim Mcgraw. The summer I was able to meet and be around so many stars I was doing a sort of internship at tim mcgraw's mgmt office and also his and faith's fanclub office. It was spectacular! One time I had to go feed the meter outside so Tim's truck didnt get towed when he was in an interview. Another time he actually asked my opinion on what jeans he should wear. :) Oh the little things. :) One of my little jobs was also occasionally going to this designers house and picking up clothes for Faith, like for awards shows and stuff. Incredible. I still could go on and on and on, but then this would be like the longest post in history. I do have to say one thing that was disappointing was I got an invite to Maggie's baby shower (faith's 2nd baby) at Tim and Faiths house, but I had to leave to start school a week before! Can't complain too much though.

I rarely talk about this stuff anymore because i dont want people to think I am bragging or something. I am soooo not like that. But right now, it feels good to remember those times- because they were so good. Like i mentioned before, IC had not shown it's ugly face yet and I was having the time of my life.

Ok Jen, Im officially jealous of you! My sign on name for my email and here is kuntrygurl because I LOVE LOVE LOVE country music.

I have always been a poor country music lover tho, so I dont get to many concerts. I did meet Allison Krauss. Shes from my hometown. She was in the store I worked at. She came up to me and I asked if she could use our phone. I stumbled over my words and told her I would have to ask my boss. She was so sweet! She had her son with her, so I didnt bother her for her autograph. I figured it wasnt the right time/place. My husband and I danced to "When You Say Nothing At All" for our wedding back in September. And hubby doesnt even like country music. (I know..Im crazy for marrying a guy who dont like country music)

In the last year or so Ive met Chris Young (from Nashville Star fame) and Elizabeth Cook. Shes still new on the Americana circuit. Ive also recently been introduced to the music of Michael Krejci. Very interesting and wonderful music. I sent him a myspace message telling him that I liked the music on his page. I told him I would buy the cd by the end of the year. Well, it went on sale just after xmas, and he sent me a personal note telling me of the sale. When I didnt get it within a week, he sent me another note..both very sweet and polite. I bought it that day, and Im so glad I did. I cant wait to try to see him this summer. Im already impresed by him.

My best friend helped me fulfil a dream this passed summer. We went to fan fair in Nashville. It was amazing! We didnt stand in line to get any autographs tho. My feet wouldnt have it. It was just fun to just sink ourselves into a week of nothing but wonderful music. Best week of my life besides my honeymoon.

I would love to meet a young Elvis and my other favorite is Clark Gable. I actually had a dream once that we met and conversed for a long time.
Other than that, there's a great Indian fighter from the 1700's, Sam Brady I would love to meet.

kuntrygirl- The summer I was in Nashville I worked fanfair!! It was so awesome. I remember one day Tim signed at the booth for 5 hours. He was sitting on the booth and I remembered feeling so fortunate because the cashbox I had to use when people were buying things was located conveniently right under his butt. :) lol. I also remember he had me go get him a chili dog. When I gave it to him, he gave me his gum to throw away. I remember thinking to myself, now some psycho fan would probably keep this, but I was a good girl and threw it away. lol Hmmm if I can dig up the picture from that day I should post it. All of us who ran the booth took a picture with Tim holding up the "end of line" sign because it was all over and we made it thru!

I'd also like to meet Laura. What a life...the things she saw in her lifetime!
I grew up about 60 miles from Walnut Grove, Minnesota, but I've never been there! I guess it is one of those situations where you don't visit places in your own backyard. One of these summers I want to go there to see the pageant/play they hold outdoors.

Jena, It was Kenny playing basketball. There other regular people playing with them too. We would have stopped, but we were on a family vacation and my little nephews already had their plans to go to the amuzement park. It was long before he became famous. I think he only had a couple songs that were on the radio at the time. He was doing a concert in a small venue called the Alabama Theater. These days his concerts are so big that he won't even play at the FedEx Forum anymore! When he was in Memphis about 2 or 3 years ago, they had their roadcrew and they were all playing out in the parking lot way before concert time.

That is really awesome that you had that life to enjoy! Kuntrygurl, I knew you would love to hear Jena's stories. Jena, I am much older than you and country music was quite different when I was growing up. I didn't even like country music that much until I was in highschool, about when you were born. I pretty much only liked Alabama and Juice Newton as far as country music went. I was more into Rick Springfield, Barry Manilow and the Carpenters type fan...and oh yeah, Donny Osmond! LOL!

It is nice to hear that people like Laura Ingalls Wilder as well. I thought about her when I first started this post of people in our history.

Sandberg, my FIL went to highschool with Elvis. It was before he was popular and Elvis would sit on his front porch and play his guitar and sing. My FIL said that he and his friends always made fun of him when they would walk passed his house and Elvis was a loaner. Now my FIL says he wished he would have gone and sang with him on the porch! LOL!

Carolyn, who do you know who's famous? I met Wes Bentley at a local bar years ago. He's the guy from American Beauty who video taped everything and went out with Cristina Reechy in the movie. He was soooo cool and cute!
I'd like to meet Kurt Vonnegut (the author who recently passed). Also, I'd like to meet pretty much anyone from the big Hollywood movies. Historical figures would be awesome too - Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Eddison.

I don't know if anyone here is old enough to have heard of Ward Bond, but he was born in my little home town in Nebraska. When I was a little girl, I had a hand-me-down sled that had his name carved on the back. They told me it had been his.

I only met him one time and was extremely disappointed because he looked just like all the other old men in town. He used to come back there during pheasant season to go hunting.

Off the subject do any celebrites out there have IC? You never hear any talk shows like Oprah talk about living w/ IC. If the stats are right 1 out of 5 women has this. Why isnt the public media trying to figure out cures and knowledge of this disease.

1 OUT OF 5!!! It think it must be more like 1 out of 500,000. I don't know anyone with this and only 1 person knew of this condition that I told. I feel really lucky have all of you to talk to or I'd feel so alone.
There was one actress I heard of who had it. I think she was on a soap but I can't remember which. She was mentioned in a book I read. Maybe it was the young and the restless. That sounds familiar.

Oh, ABliske, I just now saw your question. But since almost everyone I know, I know through common political action, I think I need to decline to reply for fear of bringing politics onto the boards.

Oh, I do know Ekatarina Gordeeva, the Russian figure skater. (Two time Olympic champion in pairs, does that count as famous?) Well, I knew her when she lived in Connecticut, haven't been in touch since she moved to California and had her second daughter. Wow, I haven't really thought about Katia and her daughter Dasha in a while.

And I know Gene Hackman because he used to live next door to my Uncle Walter in Santa Barbara, for many years. His daughter Leslie is around my age, and when she was at the University of Maryland she used to spend every Thanksgiving weekend with my family in New Jersey.

Okay, enough name dropping. I feel like I'm violating people's privacy here.
