I have only been offered DMSO, which I am too leary of to try. I need something though desperately, so I am wondering what is a good type of instill for a main system of frequency and pressure???

There are so many different "mixes" that it's very hard to suggest any particular one. I had good success with DMSO for two or three years, but it finally stopped working for me. Others have reported heparin worked well for them.

Hi jena55. I never tried DMSO. I have only had instills of sodium bicarb, heparin and lidocaine. They cut my frequency and spasms in half, so I would have to say they definitely help me. Talk with your doctor if you don't feel comfortable doing the DMSO. See if he is willing to try something else. We all have different effects with treatments, what may help me, may not help someone else, but I really would talk with your doc and let them know of your concerns. :)

Lisa- how often do you/did you get those? Did it require alot of time away from work?

Hi, my first instills were one a week for 6 weeks, I had instant relief! It was great. Now I am doing them at home 2 times a week, but I have a new doctor now. They taught me to do them at home. When I was getting the one a week, I had to travel a little over an hour just to get there, so I missed the same day of work each week. The instill doesn't take long at all, it was the travel time. Now the new doc taught me to do them at home, I did go there for my first 4 instills and then learned to do them at home. :)

I do home instills and it takes about 2 mins. It actually takes longer to mix the cocktail than do the instill. Mu cocktail is heparin, lidocane and sodium bicarbonate.

Instills in the office take only a mintue after you get into the room. My urogyne has a nurse that gives instills to the "regulars". There are a lot that go in during their lunchtime for instills. They don't wait or need an appointment the instill take so little time. and he has one nurse that does all the instills.
