I have had IC for five years now. In the beginning there was no pain just urgency and frequency. In the past year those symptoms have disapated but now I have pain. The flares consist of pain on my right side front pelvic area that pulsates through to my back and a severe burning type pain in my right leg - upper thigh near the pevlic area. I saw my uro today and he has scheduled an ultra sound for my pelvic and abdominal area. He said that leg pain is not a commom complaint with IC and I was wondering if anyone else gets this pain. Its a burning shooting pain and all my pain is located on my right side. I have a follow up in two weeks and just want to see if anyone else suffers from leg pain. I don't take any pain meds right now but some nights I can't sleep from the pain and I am spending more and more days lying in my bed with a heating pad.

I get this on BOTH sides.. I thought it had something to do with my sciatic nerve. I didn't think it could be IC related. Very interesting!
Sorry you are suffering though...

When I get leg pain on one side my doctor says it's "probably" sciatica; it always goes away in a day or two so we haven't done a bunch of testing.

I have the same thing, and I used to have sciatica problems years ago. Hmmm, wonder if it's related?? I wonder if it's that same nerve. I know the SANS unit is attached to the ankle and it helps by stimulating a "bladder nerve." I also initially had urgency and burning with no pain. That got better and then I had pain, but that is also better now at the moment. I also hope you feel better soon!

I've also had this type of leg pain. In my case the pain is sharp deep in the hip joint and shoots down the leg and when it's been severe had loss of feeling in my foot and I have fallen with this several times. My Doctor calls it a sciatica nerve pain. In my case it seems to be connected to the IC. I have been diagnosed with sensorimotor polyneuropathies and my Doctor explained this affects the nerves scattered all throughout my body. I wanted to know just exactly which nerves are damaged. This type of sciatica nerve pain is something like having carpal tunnel syndrome and edema in the body tissues probably put pressure or compression on the sciatic nerve that runs through the periformis muscle in the hip.

In my area I have joined a peripheral neuropathy support group. I am so much better now, but I do feel sharp jabs in my right hip from time to time. I found a simple exercise on the web for sciatica nerve pain and it helped more than pills. You aren't alone and I hope your Doctor helps you find relief.

I believe your doctor can help you and I am sorry you suffer.

Thanks for the responses. I did a check of sciatica pain on the web and it seems to indicate that most of the pain is in your back and hip and down the backside of the leg. My pain is all in the front - lower right hand pelvic side and down the front of of right leg - not sure if that would be sciatica or not. Guess if the ultrasounds show nothing I will go to my GP and ask him for an opinion.

Hi, keep us posted how your ultrasound goes. I have the right side pelvic pain that radiates to my back, but I had it evaluated and the doc said my PFD is much more severe on the right side then the left. When I have muscle spasms, I feel it so much more and it radiates to my lower back, right side. I don't know if your thigh gets warm, but both of my thighs would get really warm before I started instills, and the doctor said that was from the nerves. Hope you start to feel better. Keep us posted.

I go to PT for my PFD and I get that burning pain on the sides of both legs and she said that it is from the PFD and sometimes is radiates to my low back. We stretch it out and it helps a bit. I have been finding that when I get burning it is from the nerve endings. I am going to PT for trigger point release and at first I had a ton of burning, she has released a whole lot of trigger points and the burning has gone away. I'm just on person though, everyone is different.

good luck.
